Recently took a ride down to Le Mans for the MotoGP

Sounds cool. I was there for the 24 hrs as a kid back in the 80's. Great memories of the old mulsane straight in the middle of the night. Cars on full throttle for a nearly a minute.
Amazing.
Id say it was very warm on the bike with the weather they have been having over the past while.

I know, only got a few rides out on it before the weather turned for the year but was great to be back on a bike. It was hard trying to keep away from sports bikes again, I love the styling of them but my wrists were getting sore on longer rides.

Sold my Aprilia rsv mille about year and half ago since then been concentrating on the b7 but its a matter of time before I get one again I've had two now and defiantly want another.

She was highly modified for the weekly meets and lets say spirited riding through wales in the summer, It was stock when I bought her except for a low profile rear tyre and a straight through end can both were diabolical for what I used the bike for so I went to a higher profile rear tyre which took away the high speed rear wheel hop round corners and the end can changed so I had higher hp at higher rpm's, amongst loads of other upgrades to keep the modern higher hp bikes behind and reliability up on race day I mean meets with friends.

I defiantly miss the old girl she was an animal and not much kept with it, granted the new bikes have over 200hp but when your at one with your machine its amazing what you can show up when tunnel vision kicks in and you tuck your head down you wasn't getting overtaken often that's for sure.

Ahh man she looked good, loved that big b*tch she new how to get down that's for sure.

I'm the same, when I fire up the duke the whole village can hear it and feel it.lol
A 955 race engine with almost straight through carbon race termis , it's a bit loud to say the least and that v-twin thud the floor vibrates , won't even get passed some track's sound level test.

Thats a lot of bike for a 125 , way more than when i was a young lad.

I think i skipped 125's in my biking years , went from a 150cc lambretta on the common straight to 250 when i left school .
Had a ktm 250 motocrosser back in 1979 just before i left school aswell, just way too many bikes over the years, great times though.

Thats probably a 2020 equivalant to the original RD250LC from back in the early 80's.

My first water pumper motocross bike , sold my 1979 CR250R Red Rocket to buy this as soon as it hit the dealers.
Great bike and handled really well but just lacked the speed of the air cooled cr250.
CR450 was soo much better.

They have defiantly come along way tech wise Rob, this will be my 3rd 125cc since i was 18 my first being a tuned honda nsr full power think it was around the 33-35hp mark got a video of me doing a 0-60mph in 6 seconds and the little pocket rocket topped out at 105mph lol that thing was a right laugh some of my best memories was on that little thing, 2nd 125cc was about 6 years ago one of the very last aprilia rs 125 2 strokes that was a nice bit of kit 4 pot brembo radial callipers as standard really modern looking bike 2011 plate i think, i only had that a few weeks though sold it to start my driving lessons, then had a couple of 600's and litre superbikes through out that time, this will be my first 4 stroke 125 so I'm not expecting much from its little 15hp 12nm engine haha but its reliable and amazing on fuel so it will pay for itself soon enough, just going to enjoy the modern features like abs and a flipping fuel gauge for a change lol.

For me cars are great and some are way better than others but bikes are my passion and allways have been since i was a very small person.
I allways had a dream of riding a bike at competition level , i managed to make the dream happen in my teens by gaining expert level in motocross.

A local bike shop offered me a sponsorship deal with a new bike which were new to the motocross scene at the time , They were called "Kramer Motorcycles" i turned it down to stay with honda but life could have been very different had i taken the chance.
Still , i realised a dream which is something .

not the bike in question but the same model.

Yeah I've heard of them Rob I'm not massively clued up on offroad bikes to be fair, we grew up on a council estate on the edge of Cheltenham so one side was a built up area and the other side was ally ways and farms so motocross bikes were always around that area a good friend of mine a few doors down was into motocross competition level he had a 125 2 stroke his older brother had a 250 2 stroke cant remember the models we was about 9-10 and he used to sneak his bike out and take me on the back through the fields and that was one of my first memories of wanting a bike but weirdly enough being brought up with motocross bikes on the estate I always had a love for superbikes they was always my passion I used to see the zx-7r ninjas around when I was a lad and that just fuelled my love for superbikes, at 19 I had a cbr 600 and ultimately that bike and the nsr 125 I had the year before made me into the decent rider I am today in another world one with a bigger budget I would of loved to do something competition wise on the big bikes its just in my blood, my oldest boy is 10 he wants a bike when he's older but he said he wouldn't be able to do gears and what if it rains lol that's the difference rain never even come into my head when I was his age and gears was natural to me I suppose that's the difference between being born a biker and being bought up with a biker Dad lol

I was'nt too fussed about road racing events etc it was allways an off road thing for me but i just love bikes and superbikes especially.
Road racing etc came to me later in life probably in my late 30's and its filled the void from where motocross stopped.
I do enjoy racing to be honest, well that's the competative streak in me..lol . I'm probably getting a bit old to be throwing a duke around a circuit now to be honest but life would be a bit dull without it.

Its in our blood Rob no matter how old you are bike are just part of you, my gramp was a rocker back in the day racing his cafe racer and he's still on bikes to this day think he's got about 10 to be honest lol he used to take me on his bikes I used to sit on the tank when I was about 5 I loved it there's no better feeling, also bloke at work is in his mid 50's and he's getting back into motocross and owns a ktm sx 125 age is just a number my friend.

But just keep myself busy i'm going to invest in something else to play around on .

God I miss mine (W plate), my one true regret. I sold it, pined for it so went back to the buyer and offered him an extra £1000 over and what he paid for it but he said no. Then the t**t sold it 4 weeks later. Definitely a big lesson learned for me, now they are getting more expensive, even the dogs.

That's a fine collection you have chap.
My personal choice would be the ducati as i'm a serious ducati owner, close 2nd would be the Triumph, but i take the other two if offered.

My only gripe with current sports bikes etc is that they all tend to look the same , weather from ducati or suzuki , honda ....just all seem to look just samey if you know what i mean, they have lost some styling along the way, probably why i prefer the 8xx and 9xx series dukes so much .
