Is this a reasonable price quote for suspension/bushes?

It's easy to shop around for parts, my issue is trusting mechanics - paying that bit extra knowing that they would do the job properly, well you assume so. I'm not putting TC Garage down or anything - I told them the issues with my car, and they took the time out to check my car, they walked me around showing me the problems, and all of this was free, they didn't even charge me for the hour rate, which was great service. I'm guessing the reason the quote was quite expensive is because its labour intensive to remove the whole front suspension unit, just to replace the front arm bushes, front top mounts, steering tie rods, wheel bearing etc.

Saving nearly £350 on a pushchair!? Must be a flash buggy!

It is a bit high, but then again:
a. surrey prices
b. you may turn around and just ask for one specific job only.

My feeling is ask him for a price based on what you what done all in one go. The labour should be a lot less because some jobs are much easier to do when doing others. i,.e brakes/disks/pads/springs/shocks.

Finally managed to get a reasonable quote (I hope) from AMK Gatwick for the following

N/S/F Wheel Bearing - £155.72 Inc parts, labour & Vat.
Front Suspension Top Mounts - £163.21 Inc parts, labour & Vat (replacing both).
N/S/F Steering Tie Rod - £95.70 Inc parts, labour & Vat.
O/S/F Steering Rack Boot - £61.26 Inc parts, labour & vat
as opposed to Crawley Audi who quoted me for the above parts and rear suspension for £1670!

Audi did provide me with EKTA with prices – I did a couple of searches for the parts and came across some good websites that show how to replace steering rack, hubs and wishbones together with photos. Not sure if this would be helpful to anyone, but here’s the links:

As another point of reference I got my front springs and top mounts done at Heath Road Garage Alfa Romeo Specialist Porshe BMW Mercedes VW Fiat Audi with Audi parts for £275 and he changed the sidelight bulb for nowt!

This work had to be done due to an unfortunate MOT fail (snapped spring right at the end bout half an inch was gone!!!) In my eyes the work done was a bargain, if only this garage was open on saturdays I would use them more as its hard to get to them in the week because of work.
