    Looking at an a6 estate

I'm not getting the car, the owner wants £1000 for it or my x type with half the miles and 4 years newer and extra cash his way.

Funny you mention water in the passenger foot well, the car had significant amounts of condensation on the insides of the windows and problems with the remote locking.

Well thanks for your replies guys. I'm not getting the car as the owner is an *** and wants too much money for it. Oh and it's done over 200k and has many little problems

    Induction kit advice

I'm in the same boat, owned an a3 and now looking at an a6. Would like to know if the same modifications for 1.8t a3's can be applied to an a6

Anything to look out for? It's a 1.8t auto and late 1999 year.

Well its been cute but I've sold my a3...

It was £700, just been serviced 4 new tyres and 4 new injectors(very common to fail and expensive to replace). Well I've had the jag for a few weeks now, it's a completely different driving style taking some getting used to. Mines a 5 speed and it revs on a motorway at 80mph revs at about 3k...

Well its been cute but I've sold my a3...

I got the g/s reading from torque pro. But anyway its a 2.0d jaguar x type. Was too cheap to turn down. Doubled my mpg lol

So will be saying good bye... For now. One last question what's the conversion from maf g/s to bhp and is it valid for diesels?

Can anyone recommend a place to get valve guides installed in the South West?

A cheaper option would be to get the value guides scrolled, will get more life outta the head without having the risk of warping or cracking the head while heating it up and hammering(air chisel works well) out the old guides.

    Oil breather system

The one which comes out the bottom middle of the inlet manifold I've pinched it and put a cable tie round to hold it pinched. The revs are now much more stable and it definitely pulls better

    Oil breather system

I've just made my car so much smoother to drive and quicker too by blocking off the pipe from the inlet manifold to the breather system, is this normal? Lol

Castrol Magnatech 10w40 Fully synthetic Oil

I thought vag say 10w40semi but most use 5w30 fully as semi oil doesn't like getting hot in the turbo

Water flowing out a pipe :(

I think it's just slow in the first place, still not dumping as loud as it was. Top speed is a touch over 120mph currently.

Water flowing out a pipe :(

New inlet gasket coming today but the old one looked ok

Water flowing out a pipe :(

I thought so, it's not bolted up tight currently. I must have missed that, would it matter if which way up they go?

Water flowing out a pipe :(

Everything was plugged back where it should be, what are those sensors bolted to the front of the block?

    Throttle problem, please help

Mine does the same. Put a new engine mount on and no different. Possibly worn gearbox, bottom arms, drive shafts. Actually have you replaced or poly bushed the dog bone mount? That would cause similar issues and are known to wear out.

Water flowing out a pipe :(

Meh. Finally got the car back together after breaking an oil breather pipe. It seems sluggish and hesitant to boost if at all now. I think I've blown the head gasket even though the temp never went over 90 on the way home. Either way it's slow now. Even the dump is quieter.

    Picture of the agu head.

Thanks, looks like it's time for a head strip and rebuild. The seal has fallen out completely. I can see the end of the cam through the hole :/

    New turbo run in procedure?

Crank the engine(unplug the coils) with the oil feed off the top of the turbo so there is absolutely no chance of oil starving it. Then once you get a flow of oil out the feed connect everything back up and fire it up
