Hello, my passenger seat in my S3 won't go up or down with the electric adjusters. I have searched on here regarding the problem and it looks like the microswitch.
I have removed the allen key bolts for the runners and tilted the seat back to gain more access - but can't see the microswitch...
Theres a microswitch behind the switch facia on the passegener seat and on the centre console side on the drivers seat. When the seat reaches the top of it travel the microswitch is depress cutting the feed to raise the seat up. On mine it look as if the part of the switch that is depressed...
This happen on both of my front seats. What caused the problem on mine was a microswitch that was jammed open circuit. This microswitch was there to effectively cut the feed to the motor when the seat reached its top position. To fix i just gave the plunger on the switch a wiggle and it poped...
Had something like this happen on my S3, theres 2 microswitches in each seat that are at the limits of the seats up and down motion. When the seat reaches the limit of its travel, the microswitch cuts the feed to the motor. Both of the down switch plungers had been pushed into the switch body...

Microswitch - my passenger one started playing up, when I bought the car I tested everything out - all was working fine. A mate started playing with the seat and it wouldn't go down on the 'up/down' adjustment. I managed to get the seat out and theres a little microswitch which was stuck in so...
The best thing to do is lift your working seat all the way up you will see them easily. They are in the same spot on each seat. As soon as i touched the microswitch it worked.
The seat not going up or down is the micro-switch. should cost about £120-£150 from a top garage to fix and thats not expensive !
You'll be glad it's not the motor as the whole seat has to come out and be taken apart to get to it . . . . . Hundreds ! !
Hi guys I have the very same problem the seat will not go up. I have had the seat out and had a look at the board but cannot see any obvious problems with this. Is the microswitch on the board or placed in a different area on the seat? I had a look through the PDF's on Homepage - Ewan MacNee...
I have this annoying issue now as well. The helmet from kiwi fit that did my tracking put the seat more or less right up. I'm 6'5" and it ain't funny now.
imtried to see the microswitch in question today but no luck? Help!!!!!

I tried right after, every adjustable button and they work all fine, except (height up - go up) and after look of under the seat i found pendant wire with some kind of fuse on top of it... it looks like a...
I pulled enough away to see that the cable splits into two cables that pull levers on eiither side (and operate a micro-switch). Unfortunately the slack in the cables does not allow the levers to be pulled. If I could figure out how to remove the assemby at the top of the seat that contains the...
Should be an easy and simple fix. There are 2 small microswitches fitted under the seat to the frame work. These can snap off or come off and get crushed between the frames. They are there to prevent the seat going too high or low and jamming the motor mechanism.
Suggest you take the seat out...
Hi guys. Had this issue since i got the car. The passanger seat wont go up or down every other movement works on it. Ive read that it could be a microswitch thats meant to stop the seat at top or bottom. Is this most likely? Also does anyone have any pictures to help and is it a diy job? Any...
There are micro-switches inside the seat, IIRC they are on the same side as the switches you use to adjust the seat. They are tiny - about 12mm x 5mm.
You really need to have a look at the A3/S3 interior manual as you'll struggle to find them without it - you are also likely to have to take...
I've fixed mine - was a broken microswitch, they are about £20 to replace (complete rip off but no choice).
IN terms of getting the seat out - have a look in here, tells you exactly what to do (and also how not to set the airbags off!)...
