Go with the rsnav mate. I got a full android system from them and you will get better product support from them

Just spotted this on RSNavs site:

"RSNAV will discontinue all its product based on MT8783(3GB RAM, 32GB ROM) by December, 2019 as a major component suppliers are stopping production and support. Production and Service will continue while the current inventory of supplies last.

2019 is the toughest year for RSNAV, as we introduced many new items but, international trade is facing woes of global recession due to U.S - China trade conflict, logistics disruptions. To survive, RSNAV must go through a drastic reform. This may be disappointing form some, but we hope your understanding."

Guess that counts them out if they are stopping support/service as well as sale..... Good old Trump....

Went with the kit from Unique Audio Developments. Good customer support for the sale. Couldn't recomment anyone to fit in the North West so decided to do it myself after being quoted £150+..... Doddle. I have zero skills in car modding/electronics etc but the insctions were clear and theres a good video on youtube from them too.

Delighted with the purchase, and pretty pleased with myself too ;)

Like @Sumo S5 , I went with Unique Audio Developments (although I use the Apple Carplay functionality so can't comment on how well the Android auto interface works). Completely agree with his opinion on the customer support side of things.

Yep, Carplays integration is muck slicker. I had to upgrade my phone as my old Galaxy S7 kept causing the car screen to go black (something to do with Android Auto and Google Plays cache apparently). Galaxy S9 works faultlessly when on USB, wireless use is sketchy and after time, same issue with black screen. Carplay is seamless wired or wireless.....

@Sumo S5 when you mention the USB connectivity is this part of the product? Or did your car already have a USB port?

My car had the AMI connector (not the MMI setup) and you can chose to get that connector as a free option. But the kit comes with the USB setup and cabling that you can run through into the glovebox as standard.

I take everything back. Since I updated my Galaxy s9 to Android 10, the kits been unusable..... So annoying its untrue.... Basically, its something to do with the way Android cache's data on your phone.

As Android Auto is now baked-in to Android 10 and isn't a separate app, I cant even roll back to a previous version of the AA app..... THis doesnt appear to be limited to aftermarket kits, people with OEM head units that came originally with cars are having the same problem. iPhones work fine, its just Android. UAD tell me Galaxy S10s work fine but S9 and earlier are having problems since the Android 10 update.....

Shouldn't have updated my phone OS.... Expensive lesson to learn :(

What an absolute gutter for you. :-(

So bought an iPhone back in Feb and its been faultless wit the kit. Carplay has been fantastic, seamless wireless integration, works every single time. Never wanted to go back to Apple, but here I am, and glad I did. Can now definitely recommend the aftermarket kit but ONLY for Carplay, definitely not for Android auto.....

I hope this thread is useful to someone else in the future ;)

Thanks for the update. I am also looking to purchase this for my 2014 S4..

A bit concerned now as I am and always have been an android user...

Has anyone else had similar problems when using an android phone?

This might help someone. Also they have a black Friday offer for £25 off. BKACKFRIDAY25

The issue isn't with the head-unit from UAD, its with Android Auto itself and also seems to be oddly inconsistent. 2 people can have the same phone and it will work on one head unit but not on another. OEM products also have same issue as the aftermarket ones. Fundamentally, Google just arent getting this right just yet. I couldnt get it to work properly either wired or wirelessly on 3 different Android phones but 12 months later on iPhone, Ive had one issue with the UAD provided device, which was fixed in seconds following some chat advice from UAD by just disconnecting the car battery and resetting the unit..... Its been an excellent experience.

As much as I hated going back to an iPhone at the time, its been brilliant with the car......
