As above, I'm looking to replace the 4 conti's for obvious reasons and over the years have been well impressed by all versions of the Asymmetric. The hype surrounding the PS4 makes me wonder are they worthy of the £50+ a corner more?

Right now I can purchase the Asymmetric for £117 and the PS4 for £170 delivered.

Any thoughts?

Sorry, should have mentioned 235/35/19

Ok was thinking it was dear for 18's

I didnt like the assymetrics on my last S3 8v SB.....compared to PS3 225/40/ZR18 92Y XL which were great but a bit noisey, defo saved my life a couple of times, last ages too, hard driving....not tried PS4 but its supposed to be the new Pilot Super Sport not an upgrade on the PS3

Assys too soft for me after the Ps3

Good price. Camskill had them at that price also a few weeks ago.

That's very good to know as the Audi dealership is not too far away.

blackcircles charge too much for fitting IMO but sometimes offer decent deals delivered, occassionally on ebay too worth a search.

Ring and check first as it was a while back I did it

Says they dont match internet but if youre getting them fitted at a local place then I dont see why not.....I think the Blackcircles is the best price with the offer.

By the way if youre anywhere near me I know a brilliant place that fits tyres really cheap and the best balancing. Im in South Manchester

Try ATS euro master, they match there online price which at the time was cheapest for me I got a 4 wheel alignment while I was there too

I'd say if you're going with ATS check the Black Circles price. I had 4 tyres fitted on the Mrs car, getting them fitted at ATS through Black Cirlces was cheaper than ATS direct and their website, also had the alignment done and they charged Black Circles price.

Both tyres are good. I currently have a set of the Goodyear ASY 3 on my 18’s and have the Michelin PS4S on my 19’s. Both drive well, both feel confident in all weather conditions and so far seem to wear evenly and are lasting.

I suspect the Michelins will offer a little more ultimate grip at the higher end of the performance scale vs a trade off in overall life span and ofcourse price. But thats not to take anything away from the Goodyears as I like them alot.

As a comparison I had a set of OEM Pirelli tyres on the 19’s before the Michelin PS4S and I couldnt get them off faster enough. I could not find any confidence in them at all, especially in the wet.

One final thing to note is side wall alloy protection. The Goodyear ASY3 offer very little protection ( on the 18’s atleast ), certianly compared to the Goodyear ASY 2’s , where as the Michelin and the Pirelli both offer decent overhang, albeit in different shapes. Michelin is square where as Pirelli is at an angle.

There is a thread on tyres and protection if you search for it.

I have the P Zeros on my car they are stunning tyres, the side wall protection is probably the best out there, but dare l say this, they are guff in cold weather and when it's damp and are noisy, the tyre roar is bad, or is it the A3's cab that's the problem, l drove my my mother's A1 yesterday with 225/35/18 Conti’s 6 and virtually no tyre roar at all

I have the PS4 on my A5 sportback, miles better than the Dunlop SportMaxx GT they replaced, especially in the wet (the Dunlops were awful in the wet). Shame i'm not going to be able to test them out in summer because the A5 is going tomorrow! I'll be putting the PS4 on the S3 when funds allow

Both choices are good tyres imo, I'm on PS4S currently and very pleased with them. Had Eagle F1 Asy 2's on my previous car and found them excellent also.

I’d go for the Goodyear yes hard hard driving PS4 are better but not £50 a corner better and on the road I don’t think you’ll notice. The Goodyear are excellent in the rain too I found for a summer tyre

Just put a full set of 235/40 18 PS4s on my cabbie, £50 cash back at Costco brought them in at roughly £119 fully fitted with valves and nitrogen (whatever good that does).

A set of 19s earns £75 back ( deal ends soon though) so may be worth giving them a call?

Pity they're not so competitive on the SQ5 - £286 each:wtf:

i would go GY.
i have the PS4 for approx 6k miles and in most conditions are pretty good but at high cornering loads in higher ambient and hot tarmac they lack bite and smear across the road surface , if you are looking for a fast road warm weather tyre not convinced PS4 are good enough (for a premium Michelin tyre).

^^ yeah good points.
The PS4S wasn't out at the time and as I run full winters when it is cold I might give the Cup2 a go. Only concern with those is that I live near the med so when it rains it sometimes really rains! Not a good mix with Cup2 or have they got a bit better than previous similar type tyres?

Probably try the 4S next time.

Most summer have excellent wet performance due to epic rain channels.

I think that offer is finished, you had to buy the tyres before the end of last year but you have up to the 31st January to put your claim in.
My bad, looks like you had to purchase by 31st Dec 2017.

@jassyo06 I think it is definitely the P Zeros causing you the problems with handling and tyre roar. I used to really rate Conti tyres (which I thought were the best out there), but Michelin are in another league IMO. These will make a big difference to your overall experience when driving your S3....I haven't heard to many good reviews of the P Zeros, but agree that they do look great.

I run the Goodyear Aysimmetric 3's & they are awesome tyres, I had the Michelin Pilot Sport 4's on my VXR, I know they are totally different cars but the good years for me are better value, maybe not the cheapest but I paid £150 a corner (supplied & fitted) through Black circles for 235/35/19's.
