What have you done today?

Are you using them as a heat exchanger and going air cooled :) like an old camper. You will still need warm air in the winter, if it's freezing outside put ya foot down to warm the cabin.

I think it is a common story, I am no expert mechanic but the amount of simple fixes I have had to do, because the previous owner(s) took shortcuts, were lazy, basically lied. I think there was a generation of uncaring owners running around in S3s 8 years ago ruining them. I spent 3 hours removing a bolt because they used a bolt instead of an allen cap head so it was impossible to get to, I got 2 allen cap heads for 52pence from Halfords.

Similar , I brought mine from a 'dealer' in the south, not too much , but spent hours and $$ replacing broken and bodged parts , leaking hoses , bulk head water leaks , cobbled up suspension , duff lights , I don't think ive ever had a car with so many issues .... however , with the new oil-pipe, the car's third engine [ two new under warranty ] should follow the third time lucky rule .. I hope ..
G,

for the premium VAG brand AUDI are pretty shocking.

May be when the car was new , for the first years , all was ok , but after that , the amount of degraded pipes and running gear , was unexpected , and how two engines expired for the previous owner , is a little suspect .. but I did get the 'cam timing retarded' flag from the ECU at , I think about 75/80K miles on the new engine , new pipe and engine flush and surprise .. more low rpm torque ..

maybe so, but they virtually all suffer the same faults.. even the golf's front driver's wing rusts the same way due to whatever padding they put into the wing.

It goes this way round, bottom goes into TIP, side outlet to charge pipe and vac hose points upwards

It's easy to swap round, just undo the two hose clamps and swap the orientation and tighten it back up

Steve
Thank you Steve will get that done asap. :grinning:What make is yours? They look the same. Had a fella tell me to make sure it isn't cheap Chinese one.

so after years of searching for a cheap one i picked up a seat leon climatronic panel for about 30 pounds shipping included from ebay (its the same as the pre facelift 8l one but it has the button design/style from the facelift units, I just wanted the facepanel cause im pretty sure it is a direct fit on the a3 climatronic unit.

The 8l one is looking really dated these days and when i fit the double din cage, i want to modernise the centre console abit.

So one week later and aramax delivered my package from the other side of the equator on friday

here's a direct comparison between the 2 :)

z0xIAXK.png

so the guy that advertised this on ebay sold this for spares or repairs but when it arrived it seemed to be in a good condition and since both mine and the seat cc units are D revisions i decided to plug it in and it worked 100% perfectly.

mS9uMKk.png

so instead of trying to make the seat front panel fit on the audi unit,om going to use the seat one since the seat model also has better icons and graphics on the lcd, im just gonna try and fit some red leds in there to replace the orange ones and make things look uniform.

made some brackets to mount it inside the double din facelift cage

y27qhaY.png

and a fibreglass surround that still needs some filling and trimming

now i just need to make a final decision on what headunit im going for.

UAE???

The roads where the speed cameras are spotted a mile off and face the "wrong way" so everyone slows down before them!

His car was black but where its been off the road for so long its gone yellow from being covered in sand

From back in October but after 190,000 miles an EGR clean seemed to be a good idea...

Turning this:

Can't say I saw a massive improvement in response or efficiency but it definitely can't have done any harm!

Received my new injectors

Shouldn't run out of fuel on these bad boys and can turn the fuel pressure down from 4.75bar to 3bar

Took you long enough :p

@Stacey those are ****** massive!

Ha ha they are huge, wasn't expecting them to be 2200cc rather than the 2000cc advertised!

After maxing my 1000's @3bar and then gradually increasing the rail pressure to 4.75bar which resulted in high 80's/low 90's idc peak with equvilent of 1250cc injector flow, I wasn't sure if 1600's would quite be big enough for the next changes but now am wondering if these will be to big?

Took my cup holder out as it was sticking and didn't stay in when pushed in (it did but because of stickiness) I can't see where the mechanism for holding it in is. Am I missing something? The 3rd pic is where I'm guessing I'm missing a part. Any ideas?

Buy a new one... common for them to break

<tuffty/>

The only thing I can find on the web is people complaining about a small bit of plastic breaking off but I have that bit. It's something else I'm missing. Unless it's in the dash itself...

I almost don't want to clean it because I don't want to end up with a cup holder that's always open might just leave it sticky

do German people not have soft drinks, even if it is cleaned 1 drink splash later and it sticks again.

1 cup holder in the S3 is a bit of a poor show, I have 4 in the front of the Mazda 3 and there are only 2 seats, I suppose to cater for left or right handed people :)

found this pic, looks like I was right, missing something there. Now to try and rip my dash apart to find where it's fallen :(

the dual din stereo that's directly under the cup holder?
I managed to actually pull the cup holder surround off - remember it has a couple of buttons in though but there's not much room for fingers

It's an A3 I have, mess on the outside, mint on the inside...apart from the damn cup holder lol. Rear subframe fu**ed, getting changed on Tuesday. I don't spill drinks, kids have cup holders in their car seats.

Arrrh car seats - that pleasure of finding chocolate and snacks under them every couple of months when seats removed for a proper clean or tip run is a pleasure I haven't had for quite some years now :D

Pretty sure I can see it through the gap in where cup holder was. Sitting on top of radio cables. How the hell do I get the radio out? Got the faceplate off but I'm stuck from there

You need some radio removal keys. They slide in the little slots at top and.bottom of the radio and the just pull it out . If you google how there's some video showing it

Today I finally took car of the rear passenger side speaker. The 17 year old glue gave up and speaker flopped inwards.
When removing the panel all (yes all) clips came loose. Apparently the audi glue isn't meant to stand the test of time.

Some cursing fiddling and hot-glue later all is well again, no more floppy speakers.

Going to head up to the parents house and search for radio keys. They think they have some. Going to give the car a good wash and hoover. If I get the keys then I'll be fixing my cup holder. Left it in warm water last night to clean it.
