What Car Care / Detailing Have You Done Today ?

Found some tyre gel that I'd bought a long time back! Thought I'd use it, looks pretty good tbh :)

2 min rinse with raceglaze 0ppm water, as Q5 had spent the week gathering dust.

No before, but left to dry with no water marks. Going to to this A LOT over the summer. Nothing else done!

Car looks very nice indeed mate personally l would never in 10 life times have a black car as for me

Agree mate, black is hard work and thankless, especially as we have a gravel “track” as a road outside house.

Was not my choice, I would have gone Daytona. Next time I WILL decide colour as Mrs now has her own car

But seriously, this 0ppm rinse is a lifesaver for this colour and dust

Been a while chaps - hope you're all ok :icon thumright:

Been concentrating on an intermittent starting problem with my car so not had much enthusiasm for washing and waxing the last few months.

However, did my car a few days ago, BH Automfoam, BH Autowash then BH Autobalm (trying to use it up).
Turned out well apart from the pollen / dirt in the air so looks cronk again now.

Just been out and used Done & Dusted on the outside of the windows and I must say I'm impressed - no streaks etc so I'm happy with that..

Had a hit of time Thursday this week, so snow foam (bh auto foam with a bit of cpw) followed by wash (gwash) and finished off with newly arrived d and d sio2 edition. Had topped off last week with c2v3. The D and D went on well, less streaking than I get with reload and similar in use to the c2 v3 for me, perhaps a bit better on the glass than c2v3 (only did rear window as a trial - the tint in the glass really shows streaking so is not at all forgiving). Buffed off nicely - appreciated the 2 free mf cloths from @in2detailing, seem nearly on a par with rag company to me in use tbh.

Then on to the neglected rav4! Same pre clean and wash (g wash) - this time used d and d as rinse aid pressure washed off as per gyeon wet coat and others. Impressed with ease and finish. Seemed a bit more forgiving than wet coat. Time will tell on durability...

Also been trying newish carpro drying towels (dehydrate) - got the large and its awesome. An order of magnitude faster and better than the towels I had before.

Cracking job mate - mirror like. Having used the D&D Si Edition yesterday, and reflected (literally) on the results today it is a very good product, possibly the best quick detailer out there right now. Looking forward to seeing how well it repels water and how durable it is. Bouncers claim it can be ‘layered’ as well, so will be interesting to see how this works with subsequent applications in the weeks to come. And you’re right, the in2detailing 470gsm Korean edgeless microfibre buffing cloths are great quality - I have plenty of these and they wash well/keep their pile.

Agree, the race glaze 0ppm is a godsend. Been using mine just over two years now as when I took a reading of the water hardness in my area it was just shy of 400. It was a nightmare keeping my last car a phantom black pearl TTS looking good without water spotting being induced, until I stumbled upon this.

Wire wool By that You mean Scotch Brite? Because l would only use this on really neglected exhaust trims, a metal polish has a lot of abrasives in it to begin with, so for regular cleaning a normal metal polish is more than enough to keep them in tip top condition

S5 was filthy from 2 weeks worth of motorway driving. 3 hours well spent this morning.

Rinse, snow foam, wash, door jams, engine bay (and dressed) and exhausts tackled.

I had read 0000 grade wire wool (the finest grade) would bring up the tips but I confess to a degree of nervousness on trying it out

0000 is fine to use on exhaust tips and I have done so like many people on here. As jassy says only needed for neglected tips although it doesn't take long for them to get pitted. For the cost I would grab some to have anyway, so when I set to on the tips it's there to hand if needed. If they are bad I would whip them off as they are easier to do this way.

Key is to keep on top of them. I have wipes in the boot and use them when parked up waiting for wor lass when picking her up. Applying whatever sealant/wax/protection you use may help too.

PS: Did they sort that paint defect out on the rear bumper?
 
@S32B thanks, pretty happy with it. Not yet, have to take the car back to them so the warranty person can look at it and make sure it's covered under warranty (which it definitely is) and then will have to find a time to take it back for them to fix it.

It's not a big job, they just rub it down, tape it all off and blow it in. Just check for overspray on the rest of the car when you collect it though! ;)

You will see it or feel it on the paint, glass etc. Easy way to explain, get some hairspray and spray it close to a mirror, then look at the mirror, that's how it would land on your car (only paint :p).

lt also leaves a good layer of protection..ie yer pipes will stay cleaner far longer...once a month application

Used on JCW for 1st time this weekend, very runny so straight onto mf as opposed to autosol being like a cream.

Wiped on and left to dry for 10 mins then buffed off

I did the tail pipes on my A3 at the weekend , used Autisol. Literally slathered it on the tail pipes with my fingers , left it while I waxes the car and then buffed off with an MF cloth. Job done . As @jassyo06 pointed out , wire wool is only advisable if your pipes are really in poor condition.

Yer complaining its too runny *** lol the Sonax comes in paste form..... Can't please some folks eh .. . fire some bsd on it then lol

I wasn’t complaining, just stating a fact *** Mixed BSD with M1 already....joke!

Tried a few in my time, incl. the venerable Autosol & Gtechniq M1 & I was recommended Britemax Twins by a Pro Detailer I know
Never looked back TBH

Just used Peek metal polish to clean up my tailpipes and this ;
Renaissance Micro Crystalline Wax
to preserve them

You will if you use just a small amount, agreed the consistancy of it ain't ideal but again it's not expensive
 
Yea sorry I meant jassy. I used it again today, managed to get some result but still not loving it.

I knew it was runny before I started so just held m/f against bottle for a couple tilts

My Mythos Q5 one year after having Max Protect UNC-R professionally applied by @FranA3. Still holding up very well with excellent water run off.

I would say that the beading is slowing down mate on the flat panels but not on vertical panels like the doors mate if you want honesty, but it's still good.
For instance If l fire on some gyeon wet etc etc on to the bonnet of my car water repellency is far better

Ps the flat panels are always the first to relinquish water repellency
