Long delays for new orders due to WLTP emissions testing

Hopefully some of us start hearing about collection now being dealerships reopen today.

Is anyone bothered if they collect their car before 2019? Doesn’t make much difference on resale value later down the line

I’m in the same mindset... however, waiting 7 months for an A4 seems ridiculous already, so waiting 8/9 months seems absolutely absurd. I could have had a much more premium car built in less time

My lease company are closed till 4th January. Not much chance of me getting my car before second week in January!!!

Mines being delivered on the 7th January, almost 10 months since the day of ordering

I’ve heard from my dealer and still no news from VwFS as to loading the new model year into the system, so they can produce the finance documents. I don’t think I’ll be getting my car this year so - when I tell people I’m still waiting for my Audi to be delivered (7+ months) they think I’ve ordered an R8, when I tell them it’s just an A4 they are shocked.

Wouldn’t hold your breath. It’s a bit like a long term relationship that you don’t want to be in; you’ve been committed for so long that it seems like a waste to just get out, but I genuinely believe lots of us should have “got out” a long time ago.

The ‘pencilled in’ part is from my point of view. The dealer wants to deliver it then but I’m not 100% committing until I know my current car (also an A4) can be collected then

Six months after ordering, I finally collected my A4 today! I haven’t had a chance to drive it much yet but it seems awesome. I’m glad I didn’t cancel, as I considered when it seemed as though it might not arrive until April.

Everybody else who has been waiting, I hope you get yours soon too! And thanks to all in this thread for providing the updates that Audi (somehow) could not :)

Great to finally see one, I was beginning to think we'd never see one delivered. Looks fantastic, hope you enjoy it!

What date did you order? What was your build date? Model spec? Is your online tracker showing as arrived?

General Question: when a car is newly registered (given a reg number), would the vehicle show up on insurance comparison sites straight away? If not how long does this take as the vehicle would have to be insured straight away... cheers

Audi usually offer free 5 days insurance. So you can insure you new car ready, while your existing one is covered on your own policy.
It won't show up on insurance sites right away and I'm not sure how long it takes, to answer your original question.

Sites do vary, certainly when I got my car in March 2018. Not the end of the world as you can manually select model
On some, or ring up. Obviously won’t who until it has been registered with DVLA, but I find easier option is either the drive away insurance, or for me just putting on cover with existing policy

I don’t have an existing policy, but with the 5 day drive-away insurance, hopefully that is enough time for car to be on the DVLA database to be insured after the 5 days...

A4 Avant TFSI 2.0 190PS S-tronic S-Line, ordered in late June. Build date was 3rd Dec. It jumped straight from “Order Received” to “Arrived” a week or two ago. From what the dealer said and from what I’ve read here I think that my car was built a while ago, stored in Germany, and shipped once the WLTP stuff was sorted out.

I'm in the same boat as you!
Let's hope it's first week of Jan and not the last week!

Was this PCP, lease or straight purchase? I ordered 11 June so, not being rude, given we have similar cars (2.0 tfsi avant Black Edition) I would expect mine to be delivered of a similar time, unless yours was lease or purchase, not pcp

Like you Norwichjase, I am also waiting on VWFS loading their new docs onto their system. If you hear that they are loaded on, please let me know and I will do the same for you. However as my agent does not reopen till the 4th I am guessing you will know before me.....hopefully!

Has anyone else’s changed from ‘your audi has arrived in the UK’ to ‘your audi is on its way’?

Will do. I’ve also emailed my point of contact at the audi execs office to see if there’s anything they can help with to hurry things along a bit; just seems silly my car being at the dealership and not being able to actually collect it.

So my car has now left the dealership and landed with the lease company! Looking at next week delivery!!! Boom!

Car is:
A4 - 2.0L (was 1.4) Black Edition - Saloon - S-Tronic

Will post as soon as I know more!!

If it isn’t on insurance “dB” you would have to ring them up, but as you say the 5 days should be enough

Have used them for last 3 cars, pricing certainly good and haven’t heard negatives, but then so far haven’t had to claim

Afternoon yes I have done mine though these. Had a good look round and even looked at Audi’s they were double the price.

Yeah price is half of the main dealer cost. But then again I guess that’s understandable. A lot will take main dealer price for ease.

Will be using ALA then I reckon :) thanks both

Is your finance for the lease through VWFS by any chance?

Mine is on PCP. I wonder if SL versus BE makes a difference? Much earlier in this thread someone posted a spreadsheet containing build weeks and I remember noticing that SL and BE were different line items but had the same weeks (for my base model at least). Maybe they ended up building the SL cars first? Pure speculation on my part. I hope you get yours soon.

Build weeks were the same regardless of trim level, on the spreadsheet I posted. The differences were based on engine/transmission.
