Just wondering are there many Saloon owners on here?
Doesn't seem to be that many and where i live i've only seen two S3 saloons and three A3 saloon owners loads of Sportback's and 3 door's.
I myself love the look on the Saloon and its the perfect size for me as well.

I love the Sportback and I love the Saloon, I just don’t like or get the 3 door. It’s impractical and looks dated from behind. That’s just me though, if you like them then all is good.

Does it look any different to the Sportback from behind? Just curious as I would have thought it the same no.....?

Yes i only noticed the other day since i have had my car for 2 months that the Saloon FL rear lights are actually different to the Sportback mode i always thought they were the same.

Saloon owner here too! I don't see many around either.

Having just googled the new A3 I’ll take back my comment on the rear of the 3 door looking dated. The pre facelift A3 3 door looked dated with those horrible square clusters. I still don’t like or get the 3 door thing though.

He was actually comparing the rears of the hatchback and sportback.
Actually there are no common body panels etc between saloon and the other models.

Saloon Sepang S3 here! I was out in the car showing my mate a few months after getting it. He asked if I'd seen any others driving around. I said I hadn't seen a single S3 saloon yet. As I said it a S3 Saloon in Sepang blue drove past . Not seen one since

Yeah but the 3 variants all have the same lighting desin though, all 3 pre face lift variants have their own unique lighting design

I have a Saloon.

IMHO the Saloon looks classier than both the 3 door or Sportback.

I'm just please Audi released it, as the only other 4 door saloon would be the A4, which is a huge car, and not something I would be interested in

Saloon here but I still like the style of the Sportback with roof rails.

The light clusters are slightly different too. In the 3 door they angle differently to the SB. the cluster on the boot angles in or out depending on model. Not sure if this is continues on the FL.

Edit! just noticed you mentioned that in your post after this one I quoted! sorry mate! :icon thumright:

I don’t know how many people have noticed but the PFL Saloon has a different front bumper with a faux metal splitter under the grille, Sportback & Hatch is just body colour.

Saloon..

That's because the PFL saloon has a totally different front bumper from the PFL sportback and the 3 door as @RichardT said all body panels on the saloon are unique to the car, but on the facelift saloon it has the same front bumper as the hatches ie cost cutting

I love the look of the saloon. Maybe because it's quite fresh as a relatively recent addition to the line up.
However Sportback wins for me every time because of the practicality

Remove the practicability issue, as the hatch will win every time. Which style format pleases the eye more on the S series? You know my answer!
Also the 3 series is not truly a sportback it is a hatchback. The S5 sportback is a sportback.

Saloon looks great, Sportback (cheesy name) looks a bit award to me.

I've always liked 3 door cars and to me (no offence intended) is far better looking than the 5 door.

Ara Blue, just to p...s off Jassyo. Though his wheels are better

Like you say, loaded to the max, but why didn't you get the advanced key? The security issues?

Saloon for me, once I clocked eyes on the long sleek lines I was sold, still a great looking car. Not sure if I even know how to put pics up... Keeps saying image too big from my phone

Both saloon and Sportback have 34 votes.. Very surprised.. Thought saloon would have half the votes.

It’s a car forum thing, will always get a higher proportion of owners on here with top end of spec cars so disproportionate number of saloons and S3’s.

That said given number of saloons and S3’s in my part of the world they are no longer “special”...make a note to myself to buy a new car next week :)

Yeah security, and overall not a fan of keyless

I'll never get a car with it. Quite fancy the new Fiesta ST next year. ST-3 looks great, but comes with Keyless go. So ST-2 it is then.

The Ford Fiesta is now Britain's most stolen car due to Fords Keyless go system. Yet they seam to do nothing about it. Easy pickings for scum

Speaking of keyless my last 4 cars have been(3 Ford/1 Honda), and 2 weeks into ownership of my S3 I am still often forgetting to take the fob out of my pocket and finding it quite awkward having to put the key in the ignition.....particular at night when I can't see the hole to insert it. Would be easier if the ignition barrel was lit up.
I keep telling myself my car is more secure without keyless......but I am rarely out of my local area and always kept my fobs in a faraday pouch at home so never had a problem that way. :)

Regarding body type......I have always preferred hatchbacks, but think the saloon shape looks very classy on the S3 and was my main reason for buying one. :)
