I hate posting a new thread but I wanted to know if anyone encountered this.

Yesterday no noises from the car; today I drove to Birmingham from london. On the way back I stopped at services and noticed loud creaking when I turn the wheel, when I break, when I go over a bump. I'm imagining it's something suspension related.

But I find it hard to believe I have a faulty suspension on a new car... could the heat and newness be causing creaking?

Any suggestions? I'm tempted to call out Audi assist later and see what they say.

A stone trapped in the steering / suspension possibly?.

I did drive over and park in a Carpark with lots of lose stones. I wasn't aware that could happen. How would I free it if that's what it is?

Mine's 3 months old (3,000 miles) and is booked in next week for 'a minimum of 3 days' to investigate a relentless creaking from the rear that started at about 2,200 miles. So don't rule out a fault!

But after 150 miles? Any one else have any ideas?

I'll call out assistance tonight. May as well have them check it before going to the dealer.

My friend who knows a bit about cars had a look and he thinks its just the springs (paraphrasing) rubbing on the suspension and it just needs some grease.

Ill call out assistance probably tomorrow as its getting dark now and I don’t think doing it in the night is helpful for them.

Creaky suspension seems to be a bit of a MQB chassis trait. Their is a thread on briskoda and a video of the issue on the Superb 3 forum page

This isn't normal. It literally creaks on the passenger side wheel whatever I do. Steering, driving, bumps. And it shouldn't creak. My Golf didn't.

We will see what Audi AA say tomorrow before I speak to the dealer.

They can flick up & get caught in the springs cup or between the brake disc & backing plate, I've seen them get caught pretty much anywhere. Best to leave it to Audi Assistance or the retailer no point trapping your finger or getting dirty that's why you have a warranty!.

So AA said that they think that there is no grease/ or not enough between the spring and the rubber around it on the passenger front suspension so its squeaking.

Suggested I take it to the dealer and get them to sort it out immediately; it shouldn't take long. He said its safe to drive and he also said it may clear by itself but its new so get the dealer to sort it out. So I will pop over about 2pm.

Anyone else encountered this issue?

The Warm weather could play a big part in this,it did with my car,its not normally warm up in the Glasgow area...lol but when it does l noticed this...especially in the first summer l had with the car it was very warm, yeah get the dealer to lube it up or whatever they do, then take it from there see if it vanishes

So the mechanic at the dealer looked at it. He says he thinks its the rubber around the spring but they don’t “grease anything up”

Ordered a new rubber part for next week. Says its safe and fine to drive so for now that’s acceptable. I just hope it solves it.

What was it, about 16 degrees :tonguewink:

I have the same issue! It's going in on Monday (I've only had it a week so I've kicked up a fuss with Audi).

the creak seems to be from the parcel shelf/B+O speakers on my saloon. sounds like a plastic creak but I could be wrong.

Yeah, that's exactly how I'd describe the sound in mine. We'll see who's gets sorted quicker next week!

Mine was in for this a couple of months ago, its a known issue and Audi have a "fix Kit" for it. Its basically a lot of insulating and padding around the rear parcel shelf, rear window around the highlevel break light and cabling under the rear seat.

They had my car two days to fit the "kit", they showed me pictures of them fitting it and they pretty much had the entire rear of the car stripped seats out all trim off etc.

They don't grease anything up?... It must be fairy dust rather than lube they've applied on my wishbone bushes that were creaking previously then!!! :tearsofjoy:

I was skeptical when he said that - but he said he would order a new part so willing to see if that fixes it. I assume that they will have to grease that part when they put it on anyway lol...

Never had this issue. Parcel shelf came out as soon as I got the car. Dogs don't with parcel shelf.

I had major issues with my Sportback. It sounded like some old bedsprings when I went round a corner or over a bump in the road. It turned out to be the drivers seat. It took Audi 9 attempts to correct it with the base of the seat being replaced and then they found out a grease point had been missed during build. Or that's what they came back with. Even up until I traded it in the seat still creaked v occasionally. I found it to be the base of the seat and the side of leather of the seat rubbing against the plastic surround. Might be worth checking.

Us with the saloon don't have such a luxury! The 'parcel shelf' is structural!

Ah ok. I've never seen a saloon. My car actually did have an annoying squeak/rattle when it was very new. I booked the car in but it took so long that by the time the car was actually due to go in the noise had stopped (and it has never come back).

I have the exact same issue. Normally altering the seat height temporarily cures it, but I'll take a closer look now you've given me a heads up:)

So a little update the dealer calls me to confirm and drops it on me they want to keep the car for 2 days to check the repairs stop the noise.

Obviously that’s not great but I am getting a car to use from sales for a couple of days so that will do while they sort it. Not good that a new car develops an issue after one half of a day; but good it is only a noise issue and not an actual problem with the car that effects safety or driving.

Interesting, I'll make sure i mention this to them when it goes in.

cheers for the heads up, Chris

I have an a3 saloon and I have noticed that on hot days there is a creaking from the rear window, I have checked everything else in the boot, even took out the spare wheel and accessories, put the back seats down, even had the wife sit in the back and she seemed to thin it was the back window, anyone had similar

Another cause of creaking is the rubber door seals, especially if they've had silicones from paint treatments etc washed into them. A lot of us on here swear by Gummi Pflege rubber treatment. Amazon product

It’s coming from the front left hand wheel. If you push down on the car it sounds like an old bed. That’s the location. Whether is the strut bearing or the plastic sleeve on the suspension will be known to me next week but it shouldn’t happen on a new car...

Did you read my post? Pretty much covers this

Mine's been taken in today Chris and I've passed on your comments to my dealer who will in turn pass them to the workshop to see if it's the same thing. Since you've had it back have you had any problems? or has it solved it?

Up until around 2 weeks ago it was completely gone, however there have been a few creaks recently but nowhere as bad as it was. If it becomes any worse my dealer will be getting back to look at is again.

Had a call from Service today - apparently it was caused by misalignment of the bracket that holds the rear seats up... so they've (apparently) realigned said bracket and then covered it in foam tape.

Haven't got the car back yet to test, as apparently there is some ambiguity in 'wireless phone charger has stopped working' which resulted in me having to drive all the way back to the dealer this afternoon to put my phone in the charger to prove that it doesn't work. Good old Audi service.

Interesting...let's hope it doesn't return then. I can deal with the odd creak (not that we should) but the current creaking is horrendous.
