8V VCDS Mods

To save me trawling through a massive thread, could anyone post the codes needed for the following modifications please.

  • Enable Alarm Chirp on Lock/Unlock
  • Reverse Lights Brightness Increase (FL LED)
  • Exhaust Valves Perm Open
  • DRL Brightness Increase
  • Dipped beam LED Brightness Increase (FL)
  • Main beam LED Brighness Increase (FL)
And I'm sure someone said that the G-Force meter and Engine Torque meters were now able to be made to work via Virtual Cockpit on VCDS?

Does anyone know, with Adaptive Cruise Control, if it possible to change the time when stopped before the car moves forward without having to pull-up the setting lever or press the throttle. It seems quite a short time as standard and it would be nice if it could be increased.

Anyone able to help? Have someone coming tomorrow while he's passing me and said I'd try my best to best all the information needed for him so he wasn't held back.

  • Headlight Brightness dipped and full beam
  • Alarm Chip on Lock/Unlock
  • Exhaust Valves Opened
  • G Force meter and torque in Virtual Cockpit
  • DRL Brightness increase in auto mode
Is the GeForce / engine torque meters working in VC yet on the S3s?

Has anyone tried this mod? It was bought up at another forum...

address 22 awd > adaptations > wiring logic > increase traction

Iv seen a few videos of people that have cracked video in motion on the facelift A3, would love to know how this is done? If anyone would care to give up the secret

I assume you are aware that this will make your car illegal as well as being dangerous which is exactly why Audi stop it from working above about 10mph.

I'm fully aware of the road laws thank you

Then why do you want to break them and cause a danger to other road users?
I guess it may be for his passenger or kids :hi:

Anyone figured out how to turn the volume level up on the alarm chirp for lock & unlock?

It's for the other people in my car on longer journeys, unlike you us young guys are able to keep our concentration on the road whilst other stuff is going on.

If it's for the 'kids' then a screen on the back of the head rest would be find. The law states the no 'tv type screen' should visible to the driver.
If 'us young guys' are able to keep our concentration on the road why is it so many 'young guys' are involved in accidents., many whilst using mobile phones and other 'modern' gadgets.

Why don't you go visit a garden centre and leave the car stuff to the enthusiasts. I assumed this being a forum people would offer advise and help but instead it appears all you want to do is police other members.

I am a Audi enthusiast and have been so for a lot longer than you I suspect, which is why I belong to this forum. I don't like to see members of this forum being asked to give advice on how to break the law and endanger other road users. A TV type screen within the view of the driver is dangerous whatever age you are which is exactly why the Audi disable it. Obviously Audi have more concern for other road users than you.

It does suck, and I'm sure we'd all love to have a movie to watch in the background going on down the road. But the sound is enough for me as I can visualise what's happening in the film anyways.

I'm happy to listen as I'm going down the road and that's what I will be doing. I would like it more for my partner as she sits in the front and not the back so headrest screens are out of the question, I don't want her thinking I'm her shoufur as she's sitting in the back :tearsofjoy: if anyone could help i would be a happy man and very greatful

Video in Motion activation has already been discussed many times on the forum, VCDS cannot do it but there are another applications that can.

I offer VIM activations but the people that want this are requesting it as part of bigger project, like iPhone screen mirroring for example... so applications like Waze or TomTom can be used instead of the basic Audi supplied Navigation:

I'd like to have just the drl's as coming home/leaving home lights instead of the xenon headlights. I've used my vcds cable but only have the option for foglights (as we known the S3 does not have foglights), I've searched forum and know I've read about it on here. Can anyone post a link please? I recall both @DJAlix and @Rob2k68 posting about it a while ago.

Thanks in anticipation

Change the following to Not Active:
  • Leuchte6ABL LC5-Lichtfunktion C 6
  • Leuchte7ABL RB1-Lichtfunktion C 7
*PFL cars only. Make sure you check that the current value = "Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv" before changing

Face lifted J519 module strikes again! Can't wait to crack that thing.

can we code the s3 fog lights to come on when I turn on the headlights? I prefer to have the fog on when I turn on the main headlights as well.

also has anyone found the coding for the suspensions yet? to code out the mag ride when we remove the whole stocks suspension for aftermarket coilovers.

I was wondering if there are any new updates for these request:

1. coding the screen to have a different default such as having the screen stay down till I press the up/down button or have it stay down as a default when I start up the car in the mornings or after I parked.

2. having the gear show up on next to the "D" on the dash. such as D1, or D6 so I know what gear the car is in.

3. also any thing on how to turn off the headlight "still on" warning sound when we open the drivers door with the headlights on?

4. magride dash warning when magride is removed for aftermarket coilovers?

5. how to turn off the auto rear electronic brake when we open the door while in drive. it just turns on the electronic rear brakes when ever I open my door.

This would need to be done via editing the MMI units firmware and am not aware of a solution as yet.

This is done via the gearbox firmware.

Not seen an option for this as yet but you can press your steering wheels scroll button in order to cancel / silence the "beep" or any warning sound / message :)

4. magride dash warning when magride is removed for aftermarket coilovers?
If you have removed your factory shocks then you can just remove / encode the magride controller from your Gateway:
  • 19 - Can Gateway
  • Installation List
  • Untick "14 - Susp. Elect"
  • Save

Not tested this on a PFL vehicle but on my FL I deactivated this by turning off the both "key still in ignition" and "Seat belt" warnings:

Key in Ignition Warning:
  • 17 - Instruments
  • Adaptations
  • Ignition active message: actuator = No Display
Seatbelt Warning:
  • 17 - Instruments
  • Adaptations
  • Deactivate seat belt warning = Yes

hey thanks again!
so the magride coding has been tested and works?
I currently have still have my stock setup but was waiting for this break through before I buy suspension.
as for the sound mute when headlight is on and door is open, I have tried it and nothing mutes. it still beeps continuously.

I just went out to the car to check the key ignition and seatbelt warning settings, they are set to that already. = "no display" & "yes". I hope you can find another solution for this. I am a 2015 s3 prefacelift.

also do you have the coding for the fog lights to turn on when I turn on the headlights?

Not tested the MagRide "de-coding" on an 8V but had a "bagged" S1 come to me that was throwing up MagRide warnings and used the same method to clear and prevent them from returning. IF you are changing out all your suspension equipment then this will be fine.

For the sound muting not working I will need to look in to this, likewise with the fogs... but I believe I already know what needs to be done for the fogs to come on with headlights. Will update tonight.

nice, looking forward to the update.

will the fog update work on a 2016 Q3 S-line as well? (I have one of those too)

Q3 will be different coding as its a different platform, which coding wise is very similar to the A1/S1 cars. I don't have any notes for this mod on the Q3 / A1 but if its possible it will be via the long coding of 09 - cent elect.

If only we knew more about the ABS Module on the MQB platform. I'm sure there would be a Adaptation for this. The illusive universal security code would be a good start.

I had no idea that the instruments and seatbelt would be attached to the rear brakes. such a weird combo. I would have never even thought of looking there.

I got someone to try the mag ride coding and it did NOT work. it was tested on a 2016 s3.

for the Q3 what am I looking for in the long coding?

Different to the S1 then. IF you can test again try the following:

As before
  • 19 - Can Gateway
  • Installation List
  • Untick "14 - Susp. Elect"
  • Save
And in addition to the above
  • 19 - Can Gateway
  • Adaptations
  • Installation list; specified installations-Wheel Dampening Electronics = Not Enabled
  • GW_Enable_CAN_Timeout_DTC-Wheel Dampening Electronics = Not Enabled
After doing any of the above make sure you turn off the car and lock it for 10mins in order for the modules to short down. Then auto-scan and clear DTCs.

for the Q3 what am I looking for in the long coding?
You will need to look through all the bytes and bits of 09 - Cent Elect and see if you can find a "bit" called something like "Fog lights with headlights".

@DJAlix each of the bullet pointed channels within adaptation contain a drop down list with "not active" and "Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv". I have tried both but the CHLH lights show low beam. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Could you point me in the right direction please?

Thanks again for your help mate.

Your lighting adaptation channels are configured differently than the norm then. Can you generate an adaptation map of 09 - cent elect and attach it here? Will be faster for me to look at the current setup than it will be to guide you through it.

To make an adaptation map please look at the following link:

thanks man. ill pass the info along. I personally still have my stock setup so others are trying it out for now. if it works then ill be getting a set of coilovers sooner than much later. you know your stuff for sure!

Did anyone get the "Sports Mode" central rev display working on a non S or RS car?
