Propshaft guide bushing

Changing out rear couplings I noticed the guide bush was stuffed and i could see the spring inside! (probably stuffed it by not removing the propshaft straight out)

Part number - 191521137

& the following photo has it smack bang in the centre. (the white is where i can see a spring...)

Has anyone changed it? If so... how?

Do not tilt propshaft when removing, pull off horizontally from centering stud of rear final drive. The gasket ring/centering bushing -arrow- must not be damaged, otherwise the propshaft has to be replaced.

Octavia 2 manual - but propshafts use exactly the same connection method

Probably an unoffical method, this type of connection method is widely used

thanks for the reply but that's not what i'm looking for as that details only disconnecting the propshaft - i wanna change the bushing inside the propshaft that guides it onto the rear diff

it's the rusted looking cylinder right in the centre in the pic in my first post

Did you change this? Mine is oval, not round Need to be changed but how?

It is press fit.

So to take the old one out you need to cut it to break the fit. Bash it a bit and press on the new one.

Take it to a driveshaft place and they’ll fix you up.

it was round, the bush I mean? and straight? Look mine and did it look same? I bet its supposed to be round and mine is oval and somehow has a bumb in it

This is how my Bush looks. I ordered new and going to replace it at week end.
Can you explain the replace process bit better? I dont have cardan / propshaft repair place near by and sending it to there is not possible because I need to install the propshaft back to car at weekend

you're going to have to knock it out

when you receive the replacement part (what's the part number for it by the way???) you will "get" what needs to be done.

i think if you have freeze spray/dry ice spray it might make the job easier

OEM part number 191521137 costs 57€
I know now how it looks so I have to just pull it off from shaft. Freeze spray is great idea.

I changed the middle bearing too, old one was in very bad shape. Bearing was ok but the rubber was broken in many places.
Im thinking of balancing the whole shaft. It costs 145€ at least after it, there should not be any worries.
