Planning on retrofitting auto hill hold assist but my b8 has the 1AS abs module. With so many scrapped b8s popping up now and parts getting cheaper I want to fit the 1AT abs module. Not much info online about the swap. Is it just the module you can swap out or has the entire module with pipe work to be swapped.

I tried doing this on my car. Had a few problems and basically I think the module I bought was faulty, fortunately got the money refunded on Ebay so never cost me anything other than my time.

Initially I swapped just the module part as the threads were damaged on the main block. The config has to be set correctly and also a defined drive test has to be completed to calibrate the various sensors.

Did you end up getting the 1AT module working in the end.

I didn't, as I said earlier I suspect I may have bought a duff ABS unit. Very strange that it came with blue plastic plugs in all the pipe outlets. These are what the new ABS modules are supplied with. A typical scrappie part they just cut through the pipes, far quicker doing this to remove the unit.
I suspect the ABS unit I bought off Ebay was possibly faulty, the seller had many other ABS units for sale as they were a breakers and they all had the pipes cut. I got the money refunded but I would rather have had a working unit.
The swap is do able.

Just to clarify did you swap just the electrical part or did you plumb in the whole unit. Sorry for all the questions. I suspect it was just the electrical unit on top of the block. Would you try again if you got another abs module.

I just swapped the electrical part. I probably won't bother doing this again, I can live without hill hold and the tyre pressure monitor, just seemed like a good idea at the time.

I'll ask the guy that does my electrical modding for me if he thinks he can do it and get everything working. No point buying all the parts if he doesn't feel if he can do it.

Mate, did you get somewhere with ABS pump swap?
I am interesting to do the same swap...
