Just noticed mine has moved from order received to preparation, it was stating until yesterday build was expected to begin on the 22nd of Feb, does this mean it has started earlier and there is a chance I will get is sooner than I thought?

My dealer said you don't get to pick plates anymore. There's just a live system that every dealer can see and plates can come and go at any time so the management just pick one at random for you, provided it doesn't look a bit dodgy or rude! Can you verify that you didn't get to pick?
This is my first new car, when my folks last bought a new car 12 years ago they were given a notebook with a list of many plates to choose from so times may have changes a bit!
For me the move to preparation tied in with then the order became locked and I couldn't make any changes. I found this out by asking to make a change to add the ILP a day or two after it went to the prep stage.
It was then about a month until mine moved from prep to the various panel/paint/assembly stages but these did happen 1 week earlier than I was originally told by the tracker.
Yes possibly. But then again the tracker isn't 100% accurate. Always contact your dealer for real time progress.
Yep I asked if I could pick the last 3 letters from a selection but my dealer said its against there group policy to do that. They said it goes through the system and gets assigned one randomly. My plate isn't as nice as I'd liked but it isn't rude/bad it's just random. Oh well I'll be putting a private plate on it in a years time so I'm not really bothered.

Ahhh Vindis! I did a test drive with them but ended up ordering through CarWow and thus the Marriott group as I don't think Vindis do CarWow (or atleast cambridge didn't). I also didn't like the way that Vindis paint their branding onto your card bodywork below the A3 badge. I hope you've asked them to specifically not do that!
Yep they don't do Carwow, well my dealer didn't but Huntingdon Vindis did, which is strange. But my dealer matched my Carwow offer within £450 so I just went with them anyway. They don't put the branding on all of cars but I'll make sure I'll tell them anyway.
Thats seems like a long time to move from the prep stage to the others, my dealer told me mine will be ready to collect from them at the end of March.
Chris I'm bw 22nd Feb too and went into prep last night. Normal is for us to go panel shop a week today.
Dealer say end March for mine to but he thinks it be here a week before that nearer mid March if no big delays with boat or transporter.

Mine will have to get another boat to come to Northern Ireland, also if they arrive the week before that is Easter so that may mess up the chance of getting them any earlier even if they do arrive with the dealer sooner.
Aye maybe don't think Easter will affect the dealer too much though business as usual for them. Mine going to the retailers before I collect too but in no mega rush I'm off on maternity top I'll the 20th a

Yeah I was given a handful to choose from earlier in the week. Nothing jumped out at me

Plate change only 13 days after next wednesday....
I thought about waiting for new plate but have a trip through Europe planned next week. Thought it would be a good idea to 'run in' the S3 for this trip. It will have a private plate on anyway, i have to deal with the resale value when it eventually comes to that. Right now though I can't wait for it!

Ordered mine in December, and it's only just gone to the PaintShop today (woo hoo!), so I'm expecting a minimum of 12 weeks for mine.
Onto assembly now. Seems to fly through these stages. I wonder if the tracker is pre set to move trough one a day, with a longer duration on the QC
Logged on this morning and it said it had arrived. 10am I get a call from the dealer and ask, but they said it hasn't arrived. They don't get deliveries on a weekend so most likely Monday or Tuesday.
They did however offer me a midnight collection on the 1st.... Already have that day booked off work though. Dunno if I can be ***** staying up just to collect it then be knackered the next day. Tempting though.
Actually, it'd be really hard to inspect the car in the dark so probably not a good idea.

still in its wrappers and the weather was miserably wet & sleety so the photos aren't brilliant, and you can't see the Panther Black in its glory. More photos will follow come the 1st March

Yes....very tempted...although it's booked into my detailer late evening on the 1st of March so I'll not really get it 'till about the 4th or 5th, hopefully it's an early pickup time so I'll have a few hrs playtime

My SQ5 has been stuck waiting for a ship now for 2 weeks beginning to think it won't be ready for the 1st March

My S3 is exactly the same stage as yours, was also not meant to start until tomorrow.
I don't know how long the shipping takes, but I have read QC can be around 10 days sometimes.
This is my car so far. Gives you an idea.
Expected Build date = 1st Feb
Preparation = 23rd Jan
Panel shop = 28th Jan
Paint shop = 29th Jan
Assembly = 30th Jan
Quality control = 1stFeb
Left factory = 10th Feb
Assigned to ship = 11th Feb
