l am almost sure my next car will indeed be a BMW.......They have 8 new models coming out this year alone......and if the all new Z4 looks remotely like the car that was shown last year......l think it could be the car for me
Priming myself for the next M240i Gran Coupe next year coming with xDrive. Hope it's a 6cyl though, and not 4pot.

Controversial? In what way exactly?

Apart from this thread (which all I did was express my opinions of BMW) the only other thread I’ve posted on where someone got themselves all wound up was when I simply said that our prisons are far too soft. I stand by it, they are.

I don’t call those two examples at all ‘controversial’, and if certain people want to get all wound up simply because my opinion differs from theirs then quite frankly that is their problem and not mine.

Oh, and I’m with QuattroCalum......that pic of the BMW you posted was a rather nice colour but that’s it (remember folks, it’s JUST my opinion)......hmmmm that blue would look great on an Audi:racer:

I like that BMW... but the alloys are a no no...

Personally I like the look of the 3/4/5 series and the respective M cars. The 1 series and the 2 series though I'm not sure about, hence I got an Audi A3 to begin with as didn't need a car the size of the 3 series (hardly huge I know, but still).

To be perfectly fair, I don't think he's said anything controversial or is intent on winding others up.

People seem to get way too triggered on this forum, not sure why.

Anyway, as for the conservative styling of Audis... I'd hardly call an RS6 conservative, and as you've just posted an M competitor, you can only really compare apples with apples, rather than apples and oranges. A normal 4 series looks no better than an A5, in my humble opinion. If you're trying to tell me that a 1 series has nicer exterior styling than an A3 then I know you truly are trolling.

You may be right there, the whole VW group styling has gone south, whereas BMW''s design has improved a lot in my view.

BTW that blue is pure porn, would love to see it beside your voodoo as a comparison.

Thanks 4K, I’m NOT here trying to wind people up or be controversial so I appreciate the support mate.

I’ve had 3 BMW’s and all three were trouble.....maybe calling them sh!t was a bit harsh but for me they are a car I will never own again.

On the flip side, my current A3 has been so far excellent and my previous A3 was bulletproof in its reliability. In addition, am I the only one who loves the lines and style of the A3 8V exterior? I love the look of my glacier white A3, more so than any BMW I’ve seen. Is that controversial or provocative?

Anyway, if you like/dislike certain cars then it’s cool, it’s good that we have different tastes.

....yeah, I like the lines and style of the A3 8V exterior....but only in the saloon version, which I owned for the past 3.5 years, but have recently traded in for a new shape Q5, as I think the Sportback looks like a small, squashed estate car.....IMHO of course!! :whistle2::whistle2:

Ah the Bimmer vs Audi styling debate.....This is just my opinion....BMW wins the exterior beauty pageant for most of their saloon designs ( I am not a fan of SUV designs), but as we all know beauty is more than skin deep. I just prefer the looks, understated in the case of the S3, to any equivalent car and it is better finished on the inside. The new Audi 5 series is a nice design but I wish Audi would do something about the grill on most of their cars, it is too big. I have said this before, there is a mystique about BMW that I do not buy into and for that, maybe stupid reason, BMW are not on my list of preferred cars and yes, they seem to have an issue with faulty indicators
On another front the size of the S3 is just about perfect for me. In the redesign just make for a wee bit more legroom and headroom in the back seats and do not follow the alarming trend of larger and larger redesigns.

Truly stunning car @jassyo06 LOVE that colour.

BMW have nailed it with the M3 PP in San Marino Blue :yum:

I agree so I will slightly amend my original statement.

BMW’s in general are decent cars, but the three that I’ve owned were sh!t.

I kind of wish I’d said that in the beginning, would have saved a load of grief.

Yas Marina Blue?

Looks very similar to Riviera Blue but is one of those colours that only suits certain body styles IMO.

I love Riviera Blue but not on the 8v saloon. If I was in the market for a SB it would be in this colour.

I moved from my 2nd S3 to a M135i just before Xmas. Both cars have there pro's & cons without a doubt just like any car will have. I can say for sure that the M135/40i will put a smile on your face a lot more often than an S3 will. Yes its a lot less understated to look at compared to an S3, and the S3 does have a nicer styling to the interior but the BMW is by no means a nasty place to be. The driving position is a lot better, the cars feedback is a lot better and the Idrive is a better system in my opinion. That before you even get to the engine, power delivery, noise etc. compared to an S3. I never used to be a fan of BMW's except flagship M3's etc but I think a lot of people who may not have experienced say a M135/40 or M235/40 would be very pleasantly surprised if they had one for a week.

Been there got the t shirt and the back ache, manual m135i offset pedals and also the 5 door is incredibly cramped to get in and out of so although its got a great engine M135i (raw) not so much M140i (too smooth) its a fail for me, pre facelift cars are also pretty fugly. Interiors on the BMWs are due a change, centre console looking very dated. Maybe a 3 door M135i facelift highly specced might be fun for a week or two :)

I agree with the pre-facelift comment for sure but cannot comment on the manual or the 5 door issue's as mines the 3dr Auto (LCI) Adaptive suspension, HK, Pro-Nav and some other bits so a decent spec.

Like I said all cars have there pro's & cons and BMW have always been behind Audi in terms of keeping the interior up-to date. It would be nice for them to move away from the orange lighting in the centre console etc and modernise it, but I still think its decent. I prefer it to my dad's a6 avant centre console for sure. At the end of the day everyone wants different things out of a car and will be put off by certain things that another person wont be. I loved my S3 and it performed great in all conditions with great performance at any time but it got a bit same old in the end, you knew what you were going to get which for me got a bit boring. Maybe having two S3's over a 5 year period didn't help that. Whereas the M135i i find gives a lot more of an involved felling of driving the car and requires you to drive it rather than just sticking the pedal in the mat and off you go.

Well, this is my first Audi but unless I get giddy and get an RS3 it will likely be my last aswell. BMW, nothing really stands out apart from the M2 or M3/4 models. There are too many silly little things on BMW's that annoy me however... having to manually press a button for the wing mirrors to fold, the boring looking seats that seem to lack any sort of support and dials and switch gear that looks like someone sneezed the arrangement onto the dash. Exterior wise, like most cars these days... needs the right spec level to look good. There are times when I fancy a BMW, but there are also times that I fancy a Mustang or an Exige... it's something I'll probably scratch one day.

Mustang externally yes but unsure of interior For me Exige would only work as a weekend car unfortunately, the S3 is a good compromise for commuting. Like you I’ve never fallen in love with the S3 though, I like the power, the looks but really don’t like the seating position or feel.

I change my mind every day but next car for me would be potentially an S4 if can work from home more often, Golf GTI performance...... these will change tomorrow
