Evening all!

Looking to order an S3 sportback at the weekend, taken for a test drive last week and absolutely loved it! (S - tronic)

Looking to keep it as cheap as possible and im not a big extras person anyway. Struggling with colour, between Ibis white, Brilliant black and Brilliant red. Audi sound system worth getting? Definitely set on lunatic silver interior because its a bit different, and free :yahoo:

Im looking to keep monthly payments around the £280 mark, what sort of discounts should i expect from audi? What the best way to go about getting it?

Thanks guys, all help appreciated! :sos:

Welcome to the forum mate :)

Colour choice is tough, you'll probably change your mind a dozen times. Try and see them in the flesh if you can (would go Brilliant Red out of those 3 personally). The stock audio system is pretty poor according to most reports so go at least ***....................or if you love your tunes B&O is an extra £500 over the Audi Sound System.

Discounts around 10-12% seem to be fairly normal. Check out online sites like carwow.

Cheers pal. Change most days! Only seen sepang in person on the S3. Really like it but looks tough to maintain! So when i go to audi do i just ask for 10% off? Would it be 10% off the base price then because it'll be on PCP. Sorry to bombard you, first time buying new and financing!

Get B&O, trust me.

Sepang is easy to keep clean / maintain.

Enter the spec in to carwow, get a price then take that in to the dealership. They should match it:)

Spec a car on a websites such as orange wheels, Carwow. Then take the best offer to your local dealer and see if they can get as close to that offer. That's the way I got ~11% off my s3 saloon although my spec was very very heavy which may have increased the discount. ;-)

Jealous! Wish i could spec mine up. Just a petrol head dropped out of college to et a job and save up enough to get a car! Luckily in a position to afford one now with a good deposit! I do like my music just puts me off when people say about the crackling and audi basically telling you to crack on

Haven't heard any recent reports of crackly B&O so would guess this was a fault with earlier units that Audi have cracked!! (Get it?) lol
Others may disagree of course, and often do ;)

Ha, yep. Not often a thread ends up in harmony :friends: Aye simon mate, cracking joke (ill stop now...)

Always think brilliant red looks a bit of an a3 sport trim kind of colour if you get what i mean... But the other half of me likes it for its stand out looks!

Been on carwow, should get some deals through soon. really want to get the ball rolling with this whole ordering but got to play it cool! Haha

Oh yes, I remember the old carwow quotes.........that's when things started getting really exciting!! :yahoo:

Just take your time mate, weigh everything up and decide what's gonna work for you.

Sorry no experience with the S3, but just wanted to say that I've heard brilliant black is a nightmare to maintain and can mark very easily. I would vote Ibis, but obviously this is a personal choice...(well actually I vote Sepang...as would half this forum I imagine!).

Cheers for the help mate. How long you had your s3? And still enjoying it? Loved the s-tronic (despite the criticisms from the manuals!). Even though it did had a slight delay before you set off at warp speed i think it adds to the surprise :scared2:

Cheers eskimo, also heard this which puts me off, especially after the audi prep horror stories! Sooner save the money for sepang and go for more options to be honest, awesome colour though!

Had mine just under 6 months....................absolutely love it!! S-tronic is superb.

Agree about Brilliant Black too.................looks great when just cleaned but just a nightmare day to day. Have you had any insurance quotes?

especially after the audi prep horror stories!

Indeed! In the process of correcting the paintwork on my car after the dealer prepped it...after I told them not to of course! I'm not too bitter as they were great otherwise!

Nearly there...

Hopefully will finish this Saturday and get my ceramic coating on on Sunday :)

If that doesn't tempt you to go for Sepang then nothing will :p

Cool man. Trying to keep it for as long as i can! And yeah got some quotes in my price range. Worked out cheaper than my civic atm. Must be something to do with demographics as my civic is slow haha. Sportback insurance is miles cheaper. Not sure why! Still cant get my head around it because its quite cheap for a young lad but re done quotes a million times and worked out the same. Must be right! Worth every penny anyway!

You had a go plugging numbers into the Audi finance calculator on the Audi website? Should give you a good idea of how much deposit you need to get your desired monthly payments. Can just include any discounts in your deposit amount, although you cant add options so its just on the base spec.

Your lead time depends what variant you're after and if the dealer has any available orders in the system that you can modify the spec on. My second S3 was allocated to me on 23/11/15 but the dealer had already placed the order on the system on 31/08/15.

Yep, spent hours trying different numbers. Its not a million miles away from what i want anyway but the more discount the better! Cheers for the help buddy

Gonna try and not use it too much till the better weather ...it's my second car so don't want to get it dirty just yet. It's booked in for a Ceramic as soon as I get it, but I'm still not sure to take it now or wait till March.
It will be a braw change from the TT Roadster tbh....this time of year the visibility in the cab is horrific unless you drop the roof.

If you want to keep it as cheap as possible and you like your music...............
Buy the manual and get B+O it will still be cheaper than an S-Tronic.

White or Red for me
Will never have a black car again....Nightmare to keep clean

Go for the Brilliant Red. Not so common as that lurid blue colour :box:

Then you could change your mind and go for a saloon and make it just perfect :blahblah1:

Very controversial reply richard haha. Do like sedans but they just seem too american for me! Love a hot hatch and sportbacks look great i think! Sedans are cool still just mot my personal choice! Think its going to be ibis white and a lot of washes:blahblah1:

This may help you with the pricing - I chose a random spec based on what you mentioned above:

S3 sport back S tronic

Comfort pack
B&O
Metallic colour

Worked it through the Orangewheels and drivethedeal websites and got the following discounts

And

You can't see the spec on drivethedeal - but believe me it's the same. (Although they only give 6 months tax)

Looking like 12.5% with drive the deal. Although if you don't go with Audi finance you'll have to add £500 to each price as that's the deposit allowance Audi give....

See what car wow give - with me I got about 9.5%, which would have cost me about £1k more in total, so I just ordered through dtd and was still able to get finance etc through the supplying audi dealer - and car arrived 13 or so weeks later...

(Circumstances changed meaning I couldn't buy it however, but that's a long and boring story!!)

Thanks a lot mate that's helped. Give me a good idea that. I think what i'm going to do is take the best few quotes into audi (going on sunday) and see what they can do. Makes it a lot easier for me going through audi but thats a good saving!

How does it work using them companies then? Do they order it from audi or what?

Once again thanks for putting time in mate, good help!

Yeah they find you the cheapest Audi dealer, it's normally Coventry Audi that give the biggest discounts. Take your quotes in to your local dealer and see if they will match it. That's what I did. Just beware though, I ordered a S3 Sportback and have been quoted build week 24 (June) as there's a new facelift coming and all s3 hatch orders have been put back. Painfully long wait..

When i rang up audi they said they havent heard anything about a facelift and got really shirty about it! Are there any exterior changes? Im dealing with blackburn audi at the minute!

The brokers normally deal with a few dealerships that specialise in fleet purchases, hence they can do the price...... Coventry are normally highly on the list, although mine came from Bolton. Once they agree the price with you, and take a deposit - approx £500 they just give you the details of the dealership they did the deal through, and you go from there.

Yup, a few on here have used the price to bring to their local dealer and occasionally they get a price match of at least within a couple of hundred quid, which is normally enough to so the deal.

If you want to post your spec required here I can build the car for you and post the final price and you at least have your spec to start haggling (at worst case you could even just order through the broker if your local dealership won't play ball!)

Audi s3 sportback
S tronic
Sepang
Standard 18 alloys
B&O
Lunar silver leather
Non smoking pack (free anyway)
Comfort pack

Cheers mate

Well that saves me a bit of work! The quotes I have above are for that exact spec (albeit different colour and leather, although they are the same price on the configurator - leather is a no cost option swap)

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

£280 per month on a PCP is going to require a hefty deposit or many years.
I'm not even sure if it is possible due to Audi having a maximum limit on deposits.

Ive recieved £290 on a base model with my deposit so not far away atm mate

Got 11.1% discount from Leeds Audi so basically just short of £4,000 off final price.

How would this affect monthly payments? And when they say discount, where abouts in the finance do they give you that discount (i.e monthly payments or deposit etc)?

The discount comes straight off the top. So if RRP is £34K you finance against £30K less your deposit.
