Tracking our new RS3?

One thing is for sure, if there is a face lift RS3 with the same 2.5 litre 5 pot engine and no batteries it will be a car to spec up to perfection as it really could be a long term keeper - possibly indefinitely.

Agree snake, and I reckon I will be on that boat

could we see a hybrid RS3 then as a facelift ?

Im hoping F1 develop 100% bio-fuel as that could be a game changer for ICE cars.

Electric cars are just soul-less to me.
That Taycan 4s not my cup of tea at all great car and built like a tank but no sound its graveyard quiet mate

I would't pay £3100 for an exhaust personally .
I would pay £3k for an exhaust mate... sound is one of main the reasons people buy hothatch's but l wouldn't pay £5k for ceramic anchors....that's just ludicrous as the real benefit of these is on a race track.......

Same, and personally would go for that over leather, but each to their own

I think facelift time will be late 2023/early 2024. I suspect that is also A3 facelift territory but RS3 might be into 2024....(or...well.... I won't say it)
Facelift time is just over 3 years from launch usually in the month of May for the A3

Read the post about a £78k RS3, fainted, just woke up and ****** myself laughing. And then read @T-1000 post and nearly choked myself laughing again. If there is one thing about this forum, it finds out good info, and I can have a good laugh sometimes.

Depends on how bad the cloth/frabric seats look mate.....
I like leather but there are some smart cloth sport seats out there. I do like the new GR8 ones TBF.

But then the balloon is higher as residual on RS’s always way better than golf. Not necessarily in the current times with shortages, but in normal times definitely
A large factor for Residual value's on most cars is down to the amount of discount you get off.....Residuals on first adopter cars will be higher on later cars just because they will be first to the used market hence rare....

The akra is worth adding imho - the 4 pot needs all the help it can get to add character.
By what i have read on here so far the 5 cylinder will need some aural assistance as well

I’m only getting the ceramics so I don’t have to wash my wheels so much.

Compared to previous 5 pots yes, but compared to the 4 pots in most hot hatches (and most opf cars generally) it will still be in a different league.

Yes I get where your coming from my issue with it is how can VW charge £3100 and Audi charge £1000 for the Rs sports exhaust ?
There is always the option to go after market .

The Akrapovic exhaust on the GR8 sounds f$$king great mate that's why lol but it is a lot dosh l admit but you'd pull back a lot of that dosh come selling on time l am only getting the RS3 because of l missed out on the other variants....PFL/FL ....box ticked

Paying for the weight saving and (mainly) the name with the akra I believe… assume the Audi rs sports exhaust is not akra?

Given how Audi package things up, can you get just the exhaust or do you get a load of other things in there and so the cost “for the exhaust” ends up being £5k or something silly?!

Aftermarket is a good shout if £ is number one concern.

Yep it does sound good I must admit it even gives the DSG blip back to a certain extent . I am in a similar position to yourself with missing out on previous Rs3's and have always wanted one . The deals on the 8R are hard to ignore and I love a deal  . Got a call off Audi service to say they have detected where the problem is on the my seat which as taken 2 weeks *** they said they are in talks with Audi technical and have ordered more parts for it and the fix may take another 2 weeks so I could be without my car for a month over a seat problem which would take it to 10 weeks off the road in total :sadlike:

Got call off Oldham Audi's head of business earlier on over the seat in the S3 to say he his really sorry about the issues I've had
I told him of my interest in the new Rs3 and that there offer of £800 off good will gesture for my issues wasn't good enough he agreed that it wasn't
and said he would be in contact in the next couple of days with a better discount to keep my business I won't hold my breath tho for anything major .

Mini rant over

Hi all. I've been lurking to get any info on when my RS3 Vorsprung might arrive but I've had an update from the dealer I thought I would share.

Dealer phoned me today to say I have been given a build week of 16... I was his first order on the day the configurator went live in August. Ordered a Saloon in turbo blue. He did say it may come forward but didn't sound terribly optimistic.

Audi's sport exhaust is just an in house (or Audi supplier) exhaust, the VW Golf one is made by Akrapovic and is made from Titanium, Akra make some real nice motorcycle systems, although saying that you cant exactly see much on a car !!

Whats brought on the change of mind if you don't mind me asking ?

All this launch crap isn’t helping.

Can’t really find a colour we like it in 100% and that is largely to do with that massive black front grill.

Can’t get used to those bug eyed headlights, how anyone buying a standard A3 / S3 can say they love the front end lol.

Then seeing options being withdrawn,no colour on the interior either(apart from ambient light).

Think I’ll bank the money I get from the sale of the 8V, we have 2 other vehicles to use on a daily basis, so not stuck for something to use.

Maybe I’ll think again once the 8V has sold.

True, but it is an Akra. Similar argument for VW charging what they dongle leather compared to Audi

Totally get where you are coming from mate

I have my own issues for me the standard car doesn't have Matrix lights and not overly keen on the wheels
Carbon edition as the horrendous rear spoiler that I couldn't live with and to add options I'd want puts it up to Vorsprung money
And then there's the Vorsprung with the massive steering wheel and silly graphics on the wheels

I'am in the same boat with the colours none of them are what I really want .
Its a lot of money to pay for something you are not 100% happy with .

Same mate . I preferred the JCW alcantara standard seats vs the £500 leather lounge option

Had a friend test drive one and she said the new one is a lot louder than her outgoing OPF model too.

Some of that will definitely be pumped in sound through speakers

You say that but I can quite clearly tell what is being pumped in through my speakers in the S3 and what's coming from behind me. It's in Audi's best interests to make their RS cars sound at least half decent even from the outside too.

Think they also use soundaktor or something similar that is effectively speaker in boot of near/on exhaust

The soundaktor is the sound you hear coming in the speakers. The one I heard was definitely way louder than the outgoing model too, and I was stood outside it.
