Got my wagon back from the garage on Friday after having the timing belt and other bits done. So I took the opportunity to tint my headlights and paint my grille badge while the bumper was off. Split the headlights with a heat gun then separated, primered and painted most of the tacky chrome innard bits.

After

I should have painted more of the chrome bits but hey-hoe, hindsight is a beautiful thing. I also snowfoamed her then Meguire's 3-stage clean, polish and waxed her yesterday. Ready for some fun in the sun today.

@martin1984 I'm sure I came across silver reps not so long back but all I can find now are genuine ones.

They do look rather tasty though....

So I changed the fuel and coolant sensors today on my BLB 2.0 tdi. Should have done it ages ago! Like chalk and cheese, unbelievable difference! Chuffed. Smoothed things out and idle is loads steadier.

Also washed it....too embarrassing to take a photo, she needs some attention in that department!

12 pound each for genuine ones.

Coolant was a complete pain, but 5 min job. Fuel one two min job.

Pretty easy. Coolant one access isn't great!

More good weather cleaning here.
Washed clayed and waxed, gave the engine bay a once over but ran out of time to finish the interior. The beige leather seems to get filthy with the top down. 20170409 191353 20170409 193706

Wondering if anyone has any ideas about this. When i put my foot down car will sometimes missfire but soon as i go back under lets say 5000rpm it is fine again (only happens about 20% of the time) Also when i put my foot down the battery light will come on (happens 80% of the time). I scanned with VCDS and got this

If anyone has any ideas on what it could be causing this id appreciate it thanks.

Ive seen in your other posts - you have a vaccum leak, not think its related?
Taken it to apparently the best independent Audi specialist in my area 3 times and they are telling me its coming on (P0171) because the car has had a remap and they cant find a fault. Same thing when it first started to missfire under load, took it to them and they said they did extensive road test and couldn't replicate the fault (missfiring) so nothing they can do. Theres 1 more garage im going to try and take it to. What should i ask them to do a smoke test?

yeah id say so. cant you reset the parameters i.e. take the map off?
I havent got a clue to be honest, from what ive been reading the only way thats possible is to go to the person who re mapped it and that would be the previous owner. To be honest im not even sure if it has had a remap or not.

yeah you could do with finding out off the PO where the car was mapped then go to them to re-instate the original values.

there here, at long last. been and taken the tyre's off tonight, ready for refurb tomorrow all 4 19's £150 buzzing with that price, they look really bad in the pic but they aint in the flesh, might do em my self yet just to be a tight **** lol

Removed the engine/gearbox under trays after an argument with a metal horizontal parking post outside the Laura Ashley shop in Chichester. Heard a faint rasping sound as I drove onto the space but heard an audible crack as I reversed off. Managed to salvage the engine tray but the rear section under the gearbox was bust and dragging on the road.

Damn, thought you were going to say you're putting these up for sale before I carried on reading haha, please let us know if you find a decent price as I'm after the same :friends:

Sorry to have raised expectations DJ ! Local garage quoted me £170 for the 2 sections (£100 front and £70 rear) but said to try Ebay and only return to them as a last resort. Will see if I can manage without for the time being.

I like the idea of the metal ones......the only down side I can see is that it hasn't got the vents/holes in them which aid in the cooling of the car.

How much do you think that matters? You think perhaps the bottoms components may not get enough cooling.

I can't think of anything except the gearbox, when manual, which won't be regulated by an already circulated cooling liquid be that oil or coolant.

The vents are basically there to pull the hot air out of the engine bay and not just the lower components, you'd be surprised at how well they actually work as they draw the hot air from the radiator out which will aid the cooling also.

What goes in must come out.

Please let us know what you think once you've tried them. I've got the Philips 130% bulbs and my headlights are still kinda crap. I'll try these if they're any good!

Hi team, well not a lot today, but I noticed the LH exhaust heat shield was loose so tomorrow I will RE secure it. Does anyone know what fixings it uses?
