What have you done to your 8V today?

Snapped the speaker grill on the front left door... I suppose you can buy replacements for minor things like this without buying the entire door trim? View attachment 167251
Easy to replace. Costs not that much for a new one.

What happened mate?
I was removing it to see how the door trim comes off (for when I need to remove the aluminium trim to wrap them). I took the grill off , when I put it back on it wasn't flush at the top near the door handle.. Tried to remove it again and snap lol.

When it's pushed in its not very noticeable but it will bother me lol. I'll deal with all 4 doors first and probably buy replacement parts at the end.. Hopefully no more damage though!
Found the part number for the front left grill anyway i believe.. 8V3035409 :)

Also cleaned the car on a more positive note. Love sepang when it's clean and shiny.

I'd be tempted to put up before and after photos, think that'd be in breach of audi-sport T&C's

How much was it to retrofit the tpms?
Never liked abs style tpms. All it tells you is 1 tyre is out but doesn’t say it’s flat or a couple of psi down. Prefer the wife’s car in that respect, I can tell how much pressure is in each tyre, fuel level, screen wash etc from the comfort of my couch using my phone. Even lock/unlock the car from my phone.

Going to do it with a collegue. The sensors fitting did a cliënt of mine. The kit is around 150-200 euro, dont know how much it is in the UK. For in the UK you can best quote @DJAlix as he can supply, code, parametrise and fit the kit. I don't live in the UK :)

Just coded out the exhaust flaps, again, but in the meantime I've gotten the BCS res delete. I just love the sound now, it's much deeper and kind of mental with no rear seats but my mate with a straight piped E30 doesn't think it's too loud so I'm good :whistle2:

Previously I coded the exhaust valves open with the stock exhaust and was told the S3 was very noisy. Now with the res delete it's nowhere near as noisy so I've isolated the problem to be the girl in the passenger seat and not the exhaust... :blahblah1:

LOL

Interested in hearing how you find motorway speeds as I have to shut mine at 70+ mph for a comfortable drive. But as I'm at 3000+ rpm in 6th gear while you have a 7th it might be a none issue.

What have I done... One of my passengers asked if it has launch control.... Soo....haha. They said they felt their face being pulled back.

The motorway speeds are not louder actually. In generel it didn't made that lot of a difference (I'm sure they're open). The sound have changed but where the sound was more muted and drony it's just deeper and more pronounced now but not as annoying since it's not drony - hard to explain but I'm fan for sure!

Haha launch control is a stone sure winner when someone is riding with you :boxing:

I find it stupid how far cheaper cars come with direct TPMS but the A3 doesn't ...

Ordered this key cover off Ali Express (type in S3 logo key case) it works out at £10 including postage so not too bad, never understood why the key doesn’t come like this as standard!

Wish I was, bet it’s a good little earner for them, luckily came across a picture of the key fob last night on instagram

Is it easy to fit?

Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
I’ll let you know when I get mine haven’t received it yet (not my key in the picture above) although I have replaced the same panel before on an old A3 key as it was badly scratched, so imagine this is the same. Screwdriver to pop two clips off and it comes off literally a 2 minute job, similar to replacing the battery. There’s a few videos on YouTube of what to do :grinning:

It’s a security thing. If you lose your keys then it will make it easy for someone to find your car nearby.
Blipping the remote from 60 feet away may give the game away also.

Haha true. Its impressive how far the remotes work from also. And if you've got beep to unlock / lock configured then it's more noticeable.

I think the S3 one looks cool but can't be bothered to spend money on a key that I don't see lol.

Yeah the remote does work a decent way away. Regardless of the cover if someone found the keys don't think it'd take long to find the car, pressing unlock in a carpark.

when I saw the pics on the link the fit + match didn't look the best so I've given it a miss. Maybe a bit higher quality needed. be interested to hear peoples feedback however to hopefully prove the looks wrong.

Yeah I’ll see what they’re like and report back once I receive mine, I’ve got a genuine RS3 key fob I bought on eBay a while back so I’ll be able to compare the two

How much did that set you back?
He did it on an exchange basis, so basically if he has the correct wheel in stock you pay for the retrim which was £165 Inc. delivery and a £200 refundable deposit until he receives the old wheel back. All you have then is the return costs of your wheel, so basically £175 all in.
If your are local to Aylesbury then you can collect instead and have him fit it!

Is that Alcantara on the wheel? And then the normal leather elsewhere?

Yes it's Alcantara top and bottom with perforated leather to the sides and then silver stitching with a silver stripe to match the interior, you can however spec it exactly as you want, even a touch thicker!
This was my 8P wheel

Gave the car a good wash - yep, it’s that time of the year where you need to get the lights out if you don’t have time to do it before dinner...
