What have you done to your 8V today?

Do you have some more information on this retrofit?
What parts did you need? I see extra cables in the photo; are they part of a retrofit kit from Audi or did you make them yourself?
I am looking to retrofit electrically adjustable seats on my RS3 8V and I am struggling to find a good source of information. Any advice would be most appreciative...
I brought this to a local garage for the retrofit, so I don't know much into the proper details apologies.
As far I'm aware you need the following:
  1. Heater climate control unit
  2. High BCM (unless your car already has it)
  3. Seats
  4. VCDS Coding
  5. Wiring (supplied from garage)
There may be additional parts so apologies if I missed them out. Those extra cables were from other retrofits that were done previously for boot subwoofer and footwell ambient lighting. Thanks

Hi all just thought I’d try and resurrect an old thread. Made my way over from the 8P side of things and added a 8V S3 facelift to the family. It’s not quite today but in the past few days I’ve done a few things:

Oils including Engine, DSG, Front & Rear diffs, Haldex, Air filter, Plugs, Pollen filter.

Switched out the grey leather seats for black supersports Started prepping for some mods and got some exterior stuff done changed the grill for ACC soon to be sorted. Park assist sensor holes cut and sensors fitted, blind spot sensors fitted plus necessary wiring additions to front and rear bumpers. Tyre valves changed for direct TPMS and started stripping the headlining out for the roof rails. Reverse camera fitted just need to run the wiring and code everything. TV aerials going to be fitted soon.

Needless to say I’ve been waiting for the sunshine

Which grill did you get and how was the fitting?

I fitted one from AliExpress as it was about £100 cheaper than eBay. I had the seller send a chrome and black rings as I wasn’t sure which ones I wanted. I bought a genuine quattro badge from tps though as the one the seller included was abit poor.

Fitting was ok to be fair

What was the part number for the Quattro badge?
Mate has tps account so can get him to get it.

though the last 3 digits (Mi7) is the colour code you can get it in a few different colours

Mi7 (titanium)
Ru6 (dark chrome)

I thought they did a lighter one as well but can’t seem to find it. Here’s a better shot of the titanium.

Looks alright.
Having a look on AliExpress just now. There’s hundreds of them with so many options. I just want a grill with no acc or parking sensors

Ah that’s a shame I’ve got my old non acc grill in the garage but it’s got sensors and I’m not sure what to do with it lol.

What have style did you replace the grille with?

The one with the chrome rings in the pics a couple of posts back. I’m retrofitting acc and had the honeycomb grill with black rings (without acc) and replaced it with a honeycomb grill with silver rings, acc hole and I added a quattro badge

Has it got blanking plates for the parking sensor holes? Looking on AliExpress they all seem to have sensor holes.

I don’t think so it was on the car when I got it and the new one didn’t come with blanks. I’ll have a look in the morning and see if they’re removable. Or potentially they could be cut out with a Dremel

Good to see all of your upcoming retrofits and doing them correctly, you’re obviously competent in what you are doing. And good to see someone from Plymouth

What’s the condition?
Might be interested taking it off your hands

Yeah mate it’s in good condition the only reason I’ve removed it is for the acc. It was fitted to the car less than 12 months ago. Send me a message if you want pics and stuff

The rain has stopped me from carrying on with the tv & reverse camera install however I managed to finally sort out adding the B&O lighting to the rear door cards.

At first I took the feed from the door handle lighting but changed it to the interior lighting circuit so they wouldn’t be on all the time.

I’ll add a pic when it’s darker light the fronts they don’t show up too well in the daytime.

Finally managed to get some time to install the roof rails on the S3 today. I’m not going to lie it was a bit nerve racking and multiple calls to a friend who’s do it before while doing the first side. After that was doing the other side flew in.

Very pleased with the results

Great job and well done on the proper install. I’ve seen a few people fit them with double sided tape, ok for looks but who knows who might end up buying it and not knowing they’re only stuck on.

Thanks bud it took longer than I expected but wanted to make sure it was ok. We’re planning on using the box a lot and the I like the rails. Mate I know what you mean, the “javelin” method is just dangerous I don’t get why people do it. It’s like you say whoever buys it won’t have a clue. You’d like to think that when someone tries to put bars on them they’d come off but even if it’s just for looks, hot cold temps will ruin the glue and the poor person in front or behind when they fly off. It’s just irresponsible imo sorry I got on a bit of a rant there lol.

Not at all, I totally agree with you. My wife has a 8Y with the roof rails and we use them a lot for carrying our 2 kayaks

Thats a cracking retrofit you have done there always bothered me why they never made the rears light up the same as the fronts. Dont suppose youd be willing to make a kit would you ?

I also see you retrofitted the supersport seats. My RS3 has the standard seats but swapping these out next week and the new ones have electric lumbar

did you have to retrofit the lumbar cable ? i see kufatec make one but the postage is nearly double the price of the harness lol

Steve

The rear B&O grill retrofit is in the middle of a tweak as I want them to be controlled by the mmi and need a bit of time to get that sorted. I’ve not fitted the wiring to the lumbar support yet but I’m pretty sure all I need on mine is power (I have to recheck)

As for a kit I can give you the part numbers but I just found them on here and ordered from tps. The fibre optic i used was a side emitting type from eBay I think (3mm) then it was just connect power.

I’m planing on pulling the carpet out and get all the little bits done when I do the big(ish) stuff like self park, tv, direct tpms, reverse camera, blind spot assist and front radar (I’m aware they need cp removing). But as you can imagine trying to set aside time for all that is a nightmare though I’m about 50% done just waiting on the sun

nks for the swift reply that would be great when you have time. im not to fussed about the control option but definetely interested

Sound like you have a lot of retrofits to keep you going lol hopefully the weather stays nice

with regards to the lumbar this is the part kufatec recommended (it is just essentially a T piece with power and ground)

I am trying to find out the wiring and possibly make one myself. its only £35 but its near £50 postage on top

No worries I try and get back to people when I can. With the lumbar feed I’d rather just run a wire and fuse it properly (I think it’s SC2) and run it to both seats. That way it’s as oem as possible can definitely costs less.

Safe to say I’ve got a few installs on the go though to be fair you should see some of the retrofits I did to my 8P I ran out of stuff to fit in the end lol

Had the dreaded “617752 - Selector Lever Park Position Lock Switch” fault. Thankfully there’s a mod kit available (3Q0713128 for white top) so didn’t have to replace the whole lot for one micro switch.

Straight forward install however if you do have to do this make sure the gear gator is put back in the right position as it can pinch in between the selector lever and the new switch meaning it’ll read “P” but you won’t be able to get the key out.

Finally finished all the retrofits so as of today I’ve now fitted:

Tv,
Roof rails,
Direct TPMS,
Supersport seats
Blind spot assist,
Windscreen camera for lane assist & traffic sign recognition,
Full matrix lights,
Predictive ACC (using the golf radar so uses nav data for speed limits)

It’s been a lot of hard work but totally worth it.

Congratulations on getting all of your projects done
I swapped my interior mirror to the auto dipping one a few years back but still haven’t got around to wiring it up. Maybe this year

How did you do the initial ACC retrofit?

It's something I want to do as I am stuck in traffic a lot.

I can do the wiring and coding but not sure on the FeC and Swap codes.

It’s a bit in depth too be fair. I’d recommend getting the golf 7 radar so you get predictive acc which apparently wasn’t fitted to the 8v. It involves flashing the radar, removing cp, flashing again and then parameters loading and fec/swap complied and written it’s a lengthy process.

Sounds like too much hassle.

I've been reading that with a new radar, they just plug in and work, but need calibration after.

I’ve not had to calibrate mine. I mean it could probably do with it but the newer ones have dynamic calibration. Unless it’s past the tolerance and can’t compensate it’ll need tweaking or a proper cal. But I made sure to get my wheel alignment checked to make sure the rear toe was fine so the thrust angle was correct before doing anything. I’ll see if I can dig out the info I used if you like?
