Under Bonnet Insulation?

Bit of a quick, if a little daft, question!

Should my 1.8t have any noise insulation under the bonnet?

I was checking the oil the other day and suddenly noticed I was looking at silver paint instead of matting like I've had on my other cars!

Thanks for that! It had been niggling me. It's not exactly a noisy engine I suppose, but it does get hot under there!

1.8t don't have the inslation but the V6's do ??

i have it on my 1.9 tdi and id think they put it on all of them from new as its more for the cold not noise i belive
