Reason I ask about the 'noise'.
I've had quite a few of these cars now. At least 6 different 2.0 TDI's. And frankly each of them have all sounded slightly different, probably due to the different levels of carbon build up in the inlet manifolds..
But my own 2008 BRD car has a different pitch altogether from any of the others.
It's almost like a whine/straight cut gearbox noise. But it's definitely an engine noise. It's present whether in/out of gear or clutch position.
It's subtle and would be very hard to pick up on camera or microphone.
This will be the kiss of death..!
But personally to me it sounds and runs better than any other of them I've had.
I bought this car trade. So I've no idea if this car already has the oil pump done or not. Theres a good history with the car, book and stamps etc. but no mention (or place of course for it) in the service book for this work.
Basically given by the noise. (Not a bad noise imo. But different). And how common this work is required. I would not be surprised if this one has already been done. It was a well taken of car.
