Anyone had any problems with the adaptive cruise control saying it hasn’t got the required license? Have tried looking on Audi connect and myAudi but can’t find anything?
You got a Carbon? Mentioned here the hardware might be fitted but not enabled so it can be added later as 'Function on Demand' (but not available yet, as far as I know).Anyone had any problems with the adaptive cruise control saying it hasn’t got the required license? If you don’t indicate back in it will do this. I turn it off every single time I get in using the stalk. Get used to it eventually and becomes second nature.God I hate lane assist with a passion.
overtook a car tonight on a dual carriageway, turning back into the left lane the steering tried forcing me back into the right hand lane ... absolute horrible annoying feature !!!!

The Audi Crewe demo did that to me on a dual carriageway, very much like bad tramlining, it fought against me and then as I crossed the centre line it gave up causing quite a wobble....................dangerous in my eye'sGod I hate lane assist with a passion.

I forgot to switch it off on my way home and it did it when I moved back to the inside lane, as I never indicate when doing that after an overtake. The Audi Crewe demo did that to me on a dual carriageway, very much like bad tramlining, it fought against me and then as I crossed the centre line it gave up causing quite a wobble....................dangerous in my eye's
I also thought the Highway code says NOT to indicate back to the LH lane incase someone thinks your turning off?

I stand corrected, I must admit to always indicating to move right but only indicate when moving left when some tw*t is going to undertake me.I always indicate to go back in the left hand lane in that scenario, you’re only supposed to not indicate if there are literally no cars or people anywhere. I’d be surprised if it does say that in the Highway Code (although very happy to be corrected). I did my advanced driving cert a couple of years back and definitely would have indicated in that way, never got picked up on as being wrong/passed the test.

We were out today (me and wifey+dog) and I asked the question ''I wonder how many accidents wouldnt happen if people just indicated?'' one of my pet hates actually and if I was plod for a day I would give tickets out for non indicating, of course BMW drivers would be exempt from this as I dont think BMW fit indicators any more.......
As well as stop start and speed limiter eventually when it arrives! If you don’t indicate back in it will do this. I turn it off every single time I get in using the stalk. Get used to it eventually and becomes second nature.

Similar happens to me most days, I have to cross a dual carriage way (turning right), the number of people that drive towards me and then turn into the road I am trying to get out of without indicating is infuriating.Yeah it’s a pet hate of mine too, worst thing is when you’re sat waiting at a roundabout and someone either doesn’t indicate to come off or to go around it.

Not sure that’s correct. I have done my car,HGV, bike test and always had to signal right/left when overtaking, whether on single/dual carriageway. You’re not supposed to indicate if you’re moving back to the left as it should be expected that’s what you’re doing, as per the Highway Code.
You’ll get minors in your driving test for doing this (my dad had it happen back in the day, and I know of some workmates who’ve had it happen too) and all the traffic police I know say the same.
Granted, it won’t hurt as long as you’re not doing it at the same time as a junction or slip road, but it’s not a requirement in this situation.

Rule 133
If you need to change lane, first use your mirrors and if necessary take a quick sideways glance to make sure you will not force another road user to change course or speed. When it is safe to do so, signal to indicate your intentions to other road users and when clear, move over.
It doesn’t state specifically when on a single carriageway way, but knowing plod they’d use Rule 133 against you anyway.Pretty sure that refers to moving a lane to the right, not to the left though.

Yeah I hear you mate. Trouble is though all road courtesy has disappeared over the last 10years and a lot of people think the road belongs to them. Especially the morons that are expected to return to the left hand lane after overtaking on motorways, MLM’s I call themCan’t speak for where you are but I’ve had the discussion with traffic up here and they said no need because other traffic should be expecting you to return to that lane when it’s clear. As you say though, I’m sure they could flip it however they wanted given the circumstances.

This is why driving is more of a minefield than people think. No wonder the public get confused, bit like Bojos rules only in force sometimes. If you’re talking about a single lane and you’re crossing to the other side of the road then yes don’t signal back to move over but if you’re actually changing lanes then moving back to another there’s nothing in the Highway Code that says you shouldn’t do this (or that you should I think) but it was taught to me on the advanced test as good practice, thats the way I was taught to drive too, circa 2007.

Rule 103
Signals warn and inform other road users, including pedestrians (see ‘Signals to other road users), of your intended actions. You should always
- give clear signals in plenty of time, having checked it is not misleading to signal at that time
- use them to advise other road users before changing course or direction, stopping or moving off
- cancel them after use
- make sure your signals will not confuse others. If, for instance, you want to stop after a side road, do not signal until you are passing the road. If you signal earlier it may give the impression that you intend to turn into the road. Your brake lights will warn traffic behind you that you are slowing down
- use an arm signal to emphasise or reinforce your signal if necessary. Remember that signalling does not give you priority.
Damn it used to heated steering wheel on current car!N
No
Yes, not sure what wifey would think or act when/if it happend to her, i'm going to have to get it set to remember last setting although it appears my VCDS will not work on later cars post 2019 so i'll have to but the latest lead arrangement or OBDelevenIn context guys !!!!
I always signal on main roads / motorways etc ... this was a dual carriageway very quiet, literally nothing on the road but the car I overtook, not even fast to be fair. There was zero risk not signalling on this occasion back into the left lane. But the sensation of the car pulling me back into the right lane DID feel dangerous.
It doesnt happen anymoreWhatever happened to .
Mirror, Signal , Manoeuvre.
My old dad was an HGV driver for along time and a qualified driving examiner, it was drummed into my skull from day one.
And so many drivers just don't see motorcyclists, yes they see them but don't engage brain that it is a motorcyclist and don't act accordingly.
It doesnt happen anymore
You either get just the maneuver, or the signal and maneuver at the same time, or if someone is coming onto the dual caraigeway/Motorway just the ''i'm joining get out of the way attitude''
We were talking tonight, I'm just not enjoying driving like I used to, I end up ranting at someone everytime we go anywhere, kind of brings the whole RS3 thing into question from time to time
It's one of those cars that is just awesome standing still.I hope you guys will find (as I do) that every time you step into the RS3, even if it’s just popping to the shops @ 30mph, it’s an experience to enjoy. Yes it has mega performance, but it gives you enjoyment just from driving it no matter what the speed or distance.
Yeah that lane assist is always switched off on mine for that exact same thing. Wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t as violent, it’s the same as the swerve assist I have on mine, sh¥y my shorts when that activated, all because a car was slightly slower turning left. I have a shortcut set up on the touchscreen for LA.In context guys !!!!

My misses BMW 128ti jammed on the brakes out of no where the other day on me because of parked cars at the side of the road. Ive had three Golfs with emergency brake assist, each newer car has been 'better' the first one didnt like cyclists, mind you I dont either, my current one is a 2017 and has been faultless on adpative cruise and brake assist/recognising hazards, it's also linked in to steering wheel position and needs, or should be calibrated if/when the car has a tracking/wheel alignment adjustmentMy misses BMW 128ti jammed on the brakes out of no where the other day on me because of parked cars at the side of the road. I'd assume the same as if they'd rear ended you because you'd jammed on the brakes yourself for a kid running out or a dog or something? They should be far enough back and paying enough attention to avoid hitting you.Yeah & where do you stand if someone rear ends you as a result ?

I know that's easy to say, but I'd imagine it wouldn't make a difference to insurers whether it was you or the car that hit the brakes.
