Hi all,
Newbie here. Have just bought a 2003 S3, and I must say, love it so far. However I've never driven a standard one, and I know it's been slightly modded as there was a ****** dump valve fitted (which I have removed) and a non-standard exhaust which is too loud (still there for now). But is there any way I can tell if it's had a re-map, without actually taking it somewhere and paying someone to find out?
Power properly kicks in around 3,500. Between 2-3000 it's all exhaust drone and very little to play with. Is that normal and just to be expected with an aftermarket exhaust, or do I have something that's been messed around with ECU wise as well?
Secondary question: there are spacers on the rear wheels, which admittedly look good (very nice stance). But do they affect anything worth being concerned about?
PS. I am well aware of the perils of buying randomly modded cars. But when I saw it and drove it, I just really, really wanted an S3 vs the kind of newer, more reliable yet ultimately more boring Golf GTi I could have had for the same money.
PPS. Apologies if these things have been covered in long forgotten threads, but have had a decent search and come up with very little.
Thank you!
