As above, they’ve reduced the output on the s3 back down to 300ps, there are also new standard alloys for black editon and normal! Also removed extended interior package because of low uptake. And a price increase

The s3 is a 50tfsi and the rs3 is a 55tfsi, think they will stick with the s and rs badges though surely

310 or 300 makes no real difference except for those who like peeking at the guy in the next urinal :)

In the real world where no one needs more than about 180bhp IMHO but everyone chases bigger is better its quiet refreshing to see Audi bucking the trend

Any changes to the rs3? Mine hasn’t commenced building yet, 7th July is build start. Hopefully they don’t pull back on the power levels :(

Normally, the new manufacturing year starts in late May and the price increase comes in the first of April.

As the car comes to the end of its version life they tend to load on the extras but not increase the price by the equivalent amount thus making the car better value (if you could ever call Audi good value)

No other changes on the s3 apart from alloys that I can see, *** is now standard on s-line. Twin leather standard across the trims. Tyre repair kit standard across range,

Wonder how many other performance models will be affected like this by WLTP? On another note does anyone else think the new A4 MY19 facelift makes it look more like the A3 saloon?????

could be an interesting one how they get the RS models to comply, if they are having to drop S3 10ps to 300. Maybe that was easiest and lowest impact change to make short term, whilst they work on something (more electrics/hybrid) for future models including RS, which will surely start to come with 48V system

Yeah and then the next model S3 (and all its cousins) will only make 350 hp with help from electrics. I cant help but feel as if we are taking a backwards for a bit before moving forwards again..........hopefully.

agree, as VERY rare newer/FL models drop in power, usually more power and better economy and efficiency. My next one will probably be MY2020 anyway :icon thumright: And depending what's on offer, may be S3/RS3 saloon for a change

I love the RS3 from afar and I think that it might be your last chance to get one with the 2.5 engine. I will wait and see what the new S3 is like and if its a real step forward or stick where I am. I think that the S3 is currently the sweet spot in the range in terms of cost/performance/economy.

Here is a picture of the new Black Edition alloys wheels. They have also discontinued the 19' 5' arm- wing design. WhatsApp Image 2018-06-29 at 09.21.21.jpg

I'm sure the next generation of S3 will have a few BHP more than the current model ... that is the way they go each year and I don't see a problem with that.

I have an RS3 at the moment and anticipate getting a new platform S3 when they eventually come out.
Other than missing that glorious 2.5 litre engine and the soundtrack that goes with it, I am pretty sure the performance of the new S3 will be pretty close to my current RS3.
I have had 2 x "S" cars prior to my RS3 (TTS and S5) and totally agree with the statement above that the S cars are the sweetspot.
Yes we would all sooner have an RS, but all factors considered (including purchase price) and the S makes the most sense.
In reality the S cars are not that far behind the RS cars in terms of performance.
The other driver will be cost as the facelift RS3 costs £5k more than I paid for my pre-facelift and no doubt the next gen RS will go up in price again and I aint prepared to pay that kinda money for a hot hatch - no matter how hot it is lol.

Those alloys actually look quite nice by Audi’s recent standards, they look similar to some R8 and M3 alloys.

Yeah ... they look a bit like the 20" alloys offered on the TT.

They DO look good ... but will be terrible to clean lol (especially inside the barrels).

They are not really new as Audi put them on the old A5 BE. Personally i'm not much for them and they going take ages to clean!

If you can physically order the Black edition new wheels now, the new manufacturing year must have already started as you can't order what technically isn't available yet.

I’ll be keen to hear an update from my salesman regarding my car. I’ll ask a few questions when I call him next. I’d like to think that I am indeed getting what I’ve signed up for, after all the reason I put pen to paper is because I liked the current look and after the test drive was hooked on the performance and sound of the 5 pot.

You wouldn’t think that they could change whatever they want without some sort of notification. But hey what do I know! My first time buying and dealing with Audi.
