Afternoon everyone, I'm have a bit of a mare at the moment.

So I recently purchased a multi function steering wheel for my 2005 A3 8P 3 door but I don't think the seller wasn't honest about it as I believe it is from a 5 door as the air bag connector is different to mine and I'm not sure what to do. The connector with the purple tab is off the MFSW that doens't fit and the connector with the white tab is off my original steering wheel.

I don't know what is my best option; buy a new slip ring/clockspring from a 5 door that will fit the airbag, buy a new loom/harness between the airbag and the slip ring/clockspring or buy a new airbag with the correct connector.

It's a DSG as well, not sure if that makes a difference.

Any advice would be amazing, thanks

    3 & 5dr aren't the issue here.

Your slip ring is used on either, have you determined if the current steering module supports mfsw or not, as slip rings & steering modules are matched.

The connector can be modified to fit, but unless the module is mfsw compatible, no point modifying anything.

I was by someone that my control module did support it, 8P0 953 549 B is the code for it.

Have you attempted coding as yet?

It's purely down to the slip ring being different for the connector, trim it down to match the other, but if the modules not compatible, then I'd not trim, I'd get the correct module & slip ring to match.

I haven't been able to do the coding yet as I left my cable up at uni, but I've got another one on the way. To know if its the correct module, does it just need to accept what is done in the image attached?

Didn't know it could be trimmed down, will give it a go after testing it. Cheers

You need a highline module for MFSW to work and if I remember correctly from when I did one a few years ago that said module part number that is needed ends with ‘F’.

    Edit
In regards to the airbag you need to find out if the one you’ve bought is a single or dual stage airbag. Iirc your A3 with it being 2005 might be a single stage airbag but most a3’s after yours are dual stage airbags so you have to replace like for like.
We need some more info and pics of the wheel and airbag you have already and the wheel you’re wanting to upgrade to.

Not entirely true, I don't have a highline module and retrofitted CC and MFSW :).

    How old is your car?
The highline module that ends with ‘F’ I seem to remember is for pre facelift cars. Whereas the module that you have that ends with ‘K’ came with facelift cars, I believe?

    Hi

The top connector photo looks the same as whats fitted to my 2011 A4 Allroad with twin stage airbag, the bottom one looks like a single stage fitted to some A3’s. Are they both two stage airbags & what style of connector do you require

Yep, just code the thing. If it doesn't support it, it will give you the message "out of range"
