I was asked by a lad with an a3 1.8t if my car used any oil??

I said it uses a little but by that i mean less than 300ml per year (15000 miles)
he said his was drinking it, no smoke but used about 500ml a month!
that sounds alot doesnt it?
Got me worried about mine on the way home lol.

Depends on mileage really mate, but I think Audi state anything up to1 litre per 1000 miles as 'normal consumption'

Doesn't sound that normal to me, but it seems fairly common. mine uses very little at all, but previous engines have done.

I do have the usual rocker cover leak ( VVT side) but it doesnt "drop" oil as such,
Due a service so might keep a tighter eye on it...

Mine is on 139k and uses about 2 litres per year, 12k miles. I'm not worried in the slightest
