erm for example i need to get to basic settings on the brake pressure sensor, Lateral accelaration sensor and the Longitudinal sensor etc
Yes you would need VCDS.
You don't say what car you've got but whatever it is you can't alter any of those items with VCDS - just monitor details - if available !

yes i said Audi a3 at top, lol you may have missed that, right thanks for your help, need to buy VCDS!

Depending on what year your car is there are at least 10 different A3 models and 5 different engines !!!
I meant :- petrol/diesel. 1.6, 1.8, 3.2,/1.9, 2.0, CR or PD dependent on year
Please provide all info in future so that the advice can be accurate
