Hi,
Either today or tomorrow I am due to order a Revo CAI for my S3. After reading the thread who the Revo is causing problems this is a concern. My car is running at APR 1+ and when I checked with Awesome last week they said my car would not need an adjustment as the map already includes CAI ability. Reading the Revo information, it appears the intake is scaled correctly and so I cannot understand why it is not performing properly in the other thread unless the MAF has been damaged or air leaks etc.

So folks with perfectly running Revo intakes, please can you let us know and also do you have any fitting tips in order to ensure success?
Did you disconnect the battery for make the ecu relearn settings? I checked with Awesome that this would not make the map default to the basic settings?
All thoughts welcome!
Peter

I have no running issues with the Revo intake on my APR 2+ S3. I did however find that my trims were excessive at almost +17 so I don't agree about the maf scaling being correct.
I have a home made sleeve fitted inside the maf housing and now see my trims @ +1.6

Thanks for the information Ju. I know that the VW racing intake now comes with a sleeve because of the same issue.
Was your sleeve home made and how did you decide on the dimensions?
You would expect these major aftermarket manufacturers to get this right from the start.
Any more thoughts?
P.

Yes I have the VWR also and that has a small sleeve too. Oddly enough though I still get high trims @ 13 on that. If I run that with the sleeve I made for the Revo, it drops to +5.
I've tried numerous intakes from the Carbonio scoop, the itg (sealed and open), Forge twintake and I've even tried hybrid versions using an oem maf housing on the itg.
I measured various intakes and I found them all to be larger than oem oval housing. With that in mind I got an exhaust sleeve of eBay.
From my experience of what I've used, the best two are the Revo if wanting to use an open filter or the VWR if you want a sealed one.
The best looking one though is still the Forge twintake imo!

I've had no running issues with my revo, as for trims I haven't checked as I don't have vcds but it has been on the dyno at amd and they didn't report any issues while running superchips 2+

I had my S3 booked in at VAS Motion (VAG specialist garage) for a stage 1 remap plus a Revo CAI and thought as they're there, then I might as well just pay them £30 to fit the Revo CAI as well. So I can't tell you anything useful except that having it fitted and mapped correctly by professionals, has left me with no issues whatsoever but just pure enjoyment.

is the sound difference anything to write home about?

Yes definitely! The sounds it makes are awesome and I've got the Rev G DV. As soon as the K04 turbo starts spooling up from around 2000rpm you can hear the induction kit (Darth Vader) sucking air in and then also a nice flutter as you come of the accelerator pedal, it's a lot of fun especially as it contributes towards performance as well.
