Need a new battery been quoted between 75 to 85 for one with a 3yr warranty now halfords do one for 100 with 5yr warranty is it worth paying the extra for the 2yr extra ?
You don't need to pay 75 to 85 if you want the best but you just need to wait a day or two for delivery.
I would go with Varta or Bosch They are made at the same factory, The OE battery is very likely to be a Varta. having a look at the Varta battery selector for your car assuming it's an 8P S3 will use an 096 E44 battery 77Ah 780A cranking. http://www.varta-automotive.com/en-...facturerNo=5&modellineNo=4955&modeltype=28169
That battery is used in hundreds of different car models. Check the battery size that's in the car already. I am trying to help you out, but I haven't got all day to find an Ebay ad that has your car in as well.
I used the VARTA battery selector and that says this battery will fit in a 2008 8p S3.
It's ok I found the Varna one I need ,
Just been out and checked what's in it at the mo ,it's a moll 124 60ah 280a 480oa en/sae with my limited knowledge that seems small
I think I'm gonna go for the varta slightly cheaper and very good spec also comes with 5yr warranty, looming around online think the moll was factory fitted so it's done well to get to 70k I think
The Exide Eurocarparts battery linked to above is an 096 spec which means it's the same size as the Varta.
It's usually always better to look at car parts for less as they are the on line part of ECP. With the discounts and prices they are pretty much always cheaper.
The £71.94 battery is £64.49 then has £5 off using CP5LESS code so £59.49 delivered http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/p/////?444770960&0&cc5_1004
with the £10 discount you would get from carpartsforless that would come in at £79.99, you won't get a better battery for less money than the Ebay one I linked to.
