Hello gents,
Thought this would be an interesting thread to start with regards to performance figures for the S3. As some of you may know the Racelogic performance box / vbox is the industry standard for testing performance with manufacturers, press and the racing industry using this device to record times. This thread is for progress of the 8V S3 and will be filled with vbox charts/displays/videos and 1/4m time slips. Anything other than a vbox display or a 1/4m time slip will not be allowed in this thread, I want to keep the data as accurate as I can.
To start off, I have a 2014 Audi S3, completely standard at the moment running nothing other than Momentum 99 Octane Fuel, the car is full weight and is as it was delivered by the manufacturer.
The vbox display when I tested 0-60/0-100mph on private ground this morning showed this....
To drill down further at the hundredths of a second, I plotted the data in the performance tools graph and the results for 0-60/0-100mph were...
0-60mph = 4.25s
0-100mph = 10.45s
The temperature on testing was 16c, fuel load was 1/2 tank and the road was as flat as a pancake, verifiable by the height chart in the display...
Gradient shows a starting height of 72.75m and a finishing height of 72.35m. 40cm difference over the space of 293m which gives a gradient of 0.13% (0.4m/293.40m x 100 = 0.13%). In manufacturer/magazine/race based testing the max gradient allowable over a run is 3% so this run above at 0.13% is as flat as a pancake. Numbers could be slightly better if I were to use a slightly more favourable section of runway that gets me closer to that 3%, but for me, I will use the same section of runway for all my testing so I can compare like for like. 1 foot rollout in the settings is off (Verifiable by graph display anyway)
Audi quote 0-100km/h in the official documentation as 4.8secs but this is 0-62.14mph, not 0-60...
The same run, now plotted in km/h instead.....
0-100km/h = 4.50 (Which is 0.3secs quicker than Audi officially quote)
Video...
I will update this thread again when I carry out modifications to note the progress:thumbsup:
