• 1.4 turbo replaces 1.6 litre unit
• Power improves by 10bhp
• Emissions fall to 154g/km

Audi has replaced the 1.6-litre petrol engine in its A3 model range with a turbocharged 1.4-litre unit.

The new 123bhp engine is more efficient than the unit it replaces, boasting an additional 10bhp and more pulling power.

However it emits less carbon dioxide, putting out 154g/km as opposed to 158g/km, and returns an average of 43.5mpg.

It has been introduced as part of Audi's ongoing efforts to reduce pollution levels across its range.

The new engine is available to order now for delivery in October.

Prices start at £16,365 for the A3 1.4 TFSI and £16,865 for the A3 Sportback.

I'd probably still go for the 2.0TDI 140 though but change is always good. Looks like Turbos > N/A's

Yet not long ago i read that the 1.4 T engine wouldn't be introduced into the audi range because it was too unrefined for the audi 'image'
