Ambient lighting

Ambient lighting, I have seen a kit on eBay,
It looks to have all the door modules and looms and of course the light bars,
I asked the seller if this would fit in my A6 as it hasn’t got the lighting pack, he said “no because your car hasn’t got the holes needed “
???
What holes , reply- “the ones for the lights”
Now I am confused ,
Can’t the lights be fitted if they wasn’t in the specks of the car when new,
Is it possible????
Any help would be much appreciated as would love to get the door cards lighting up like on my old A6

Yes it is possible, there was a post on the forum where someone completed this retrofit, it does require some cutting but cannot remember what, you will have to search this section.

I also have some el wire 12v I wondered about fitting this instead, but I have no idea of whee to tap into to get it to light up,
According to my volt tester, the little red led in the door handle is only 6v ( I think) so wouldn’t power it
