Hello,
I'm new here, although been reading posts for a long time.
It's that time of year when the old girl needs a service, but frankly I can't afford to splash out £391 for 6 plugs, filters and oil - so I'm planning on doing it myself over Easter weekend when I go back to my dad's (living in a flat doesn't leave much space for tools).

Does anyone know a decent company (not a dodgy eBay dealer) that sells this lot as a kit including the oil seal? Can't seem to find anything I trust online.

If anyone has done this before and has a full list of parts & tools required that'd be appreciated.

Also I apologise if this has come up before, but I couldn't find anything

Cheers,

Mike

Cheers lad, they didn't do a full kit, but it priced up at £115 for 6 plugs, 6L of oil, k&n oil filter and a polen filter.
Not sure if you'll know or not, but I've seen on another thread somewhere when doing the oil chance on the vr6 the seal ought to be replaced on the oil sump - but I can't seem to find details on size etc... Any ideas?

Cheers,

Mike

I did a full oil and filters service on mine and replaced rear discs + pads + MAF. I got everything from Mike on here = all proper VAG parts. Get a price from him first @mjr901

I use carparts4less.co.uk. Basically like euro car parts but same price as trade price so you'll struggle to beat it.

I'll third the Parts Request (Audi OE parts). Mike @mjr901 does this at a discount. Tell him your reg. number and he'll know what you need. Add an air filter to your list as well.
The oil seal come as part of the oil filter. There is another seal as part of the sump plug, most people just order the whole sump plug.
You'll need a socket set and a large adjustable spanner or proper filter socket to remove the oil filter.

I saw on an American thread that it's a 36mm socket for the sump, does that sound right?
I'll try the parts request tomorrow - just looked but don't have vn/chassis number to hand and sod going out now to look. Ah yes, forgot the sodding air filter... It's been a long day of uni work, but hey, anything to distract from assignments.
Cheers

Won't be 36mm for the sump plug, more like 17 - 20 mm. Maybe 36mm for the oil filter. Just tell Parts Request the reg. number, he's knows everything about it, Mike is your friend.

Sounds like the oil filter size (actually 32mm)- it is tight - get the proper socket or you will trash it lol.
I think the sump plug size is 19mm (might be wrong though)

Sound, I'm sure I'll find the right size when I come to it.
I'm presuming this should be fairly simple, the last car I self serviced was a little 1159cc Clio years ago, but how hard can it be right?

Well I did everything on mine at the kerbside using jack and stands, took it for its MOT last week and the tester, who is council employed and very fussy said the car was perfect all over. I wouldn't let Audi touch my car unless I had no other option (or under their warranty):wink new:

Mines just come back from MOT with Audi specialist (convenience more than anything as its a 4 min walk from my flat) failed on headlight aim, number plate bulb and tyre below legal limit (I know it wasn't, but either way I know the fronts needed replacing).
Apart from that minor leak from corrosion in back box, and anti roll bar dust covers going.
Reckons it's not worth trying to weld the hole incase the corrosion inside is bad and it just opens it all up....
The downside is they reckon a genuine Audi back box is around £400, the upside is a full miltek system isn't much more...... Hmmmm.
Rather not spend too much on it though - I want me a C5 RS6 soon
