A3 1.4TFSI Acceleration Hesitation/Lag

The issue I have with my 2010 1.4tfsi A3 is that the car often hesitates to accelerate. Sometimes it feels really quick, of course not super fast as its only a 1.4 but other times it sort of holds back the power and then suddenly you feel it and then you don't again. Theres no specific gear it does this in but even at high speed it sometime won't accelerate when foots down for about 10 seconds. Could it mean a new turbo or the veins need cleaning or something different.

MAF sensor. Unplug to see if performance remains linear/consistent.
