As i've got a 2003 2.0 fsi SE and the rev counter seems to have a mind of its own i'm gonna replace the whole cluster soon, Could a faulty Intake manifold flap be causing the rev counter to stutter and stick?

What are my options? or will pretty much any 8p cluster fit?

I know I'l have to have my mileage reset,Do i have to have the ECU tampered with in anyway?

I would assume its a fairly simple job to fit although I read some folk have to replace the wiper stalk aswell?

Much appreciated
Mick

I'm sure the rev counter takes its signal from the ignition system/coil packs. Have you checked with VagCom for fault?

I take it you dont have the DIS on yours as you mention needing a new stalk? Changing to one that does have the DIS will require extra work as your car will be missing some of the extra sensors.

something like this would work if you do have a DIS : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUDI-A3-2008-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item414c3015ed

The later clusters have extra options in the DIS like digital speed and a menu for adjusting extra car functions though you could also need a newer network controller to access them too.

I believe the people can code the immobilizer & adjust the mileage (Audi cant do latter unless less than 100 miles on clock)

Thanks again mate,Dont have access to vagcom but as far as i'm aware when I put put my car in for a new EGR nothing came up on the garage's comp.

Here's some old pics i dug up of my cluster and stalk's, This should help a bit more on deciding what type i've got as i'm not very clued up

Yup, your sorted for the DIS ok :icon_thumright:

As long as you make sure its a petrol MPH cluster you will be fine though i'd aim for a newer one.

BTW, I've got VAGCOM
