Is anyone running KW Variant 1 coilovers? I'm interested in this kit for my A3 1.8T.

I don't require the need to adjust the damping setting, but I would like the ability to change the ride height.

Anyways, I'd just like to know what people think of the standard damper settings, is it too hard, or too soft.

I don't mind a tougher ride (infact I'd prefer it), I just don't want a boneshaker!!

Thanks.

I believe Settle is running KW Variant 1, i personally have just ordered H&R fully adjustable ones for 800 quid and they seem to be the leading name in coilovers, quality is unquestioned /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I would say that the provenance of Bilstein and Koni would make them more of a leading name than H&R in the 'affordable' coilover market.

The true leading names for those who care about ultimate performance would be Ohlins, Proflex, WP etc....and for some of Mr Ohlins finest you can budget on £1500 per corner! Gulp.

Hmmm, £1500 a corner eh!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Also, (should have put this with my original question) do A3's require the drop link to change the position of the ARB when lowering?

I know this is the case with MK4 golfs, and seeing that the cars are very similar, though it might be the case.

Drop links it is then...........cheers. Are they specialist parts, or do most suspension companies stock them?

Wow, I'm full of questions today!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi (i'm new be gentle).

I have had my S3 for around 18 months, came close to selling it (was going to go back to porsches again) but decided to do some upgrades on the S3 instead.

I have a 57 plate S3 and i don't know about anyone else but the ride quality is like a go-kart on country roads - very rough, makes any of my passengers car sick! Anyway - i was looking to change the suspension, a local perfromance specialist has recommneded "KW Coilover Variant 1".

Has anyone fitted these and as original post above asks - is the ride quality better, i underdstand the KW coilovers are going to be a bit more forgiving with a smoother transition of bumps rather the the stock fitted S3.

WOW, thread revival at its best!!!!!! - and in the wrong forum!!!!!

Back on topic.....
There are a few peeps running with KW - but not sure if you can compare the 8L with the 8P when it comes to suspension?!!

Yeh my bad - i did a serach and this post came up is all.

Even more confused now however - good ol debate - Coilovers or Shocks n Dampers.../sigh

No probs - just messing with ya!! ;)

Ask the same question on the 8P forum, I'm sure there'll be loads of advice.
