S4 manual gearbox

I have a 2001 S6 and fear the auto gearbox is knackered. Does anyone know if a manual box from an S4 could be easily fitted instead? I've never liked auto boxes and if i'm going to the expense of fixing it wondered if a manual conversion was a viable option.

have a look on the audiworld forums in the states i think its been done but if i remember rightly it wasnt easy to do nor was it any cheaper than fixing the auto box
