magnus911 said:Sorry...why would you get a Golf MKIV R32 when for the same money you can have an 8P A3 3.2 Quattro? It's the same car as the NEW Golf R32!!!
magnus911 said:Also I have one...
magnus911 said:new s3 is 265bhp - maybe that's what confused you?
magnus911 said:Old S3 is easily remapped to 265...
How about an Audi A3 8P 3.2 s-line, and instead of spending money modding the engine, get an Oettinger kit for it and tint the windows...
Then you can blow anyone away from the lights, you've got the MKV Golf R32 basically and your car will look like this!

or even better if you go for the 3-door...
(PS. I know I'm biased because I own one but I have driven the others and am trying to be as objective as possible!)

vanilla_ice said:The mkV R32 must have some uprated suspension/brakes over the A3 3.2 Sline?
If not, I may well consider it when I replace my Mk1 S3.

Aky said:Just to throw another curve ball in you could get a MK4 R32 and get it remaped to 247bhp but you have a better haldex and probably chassis on the Audi. Does it share the same platform as the MK5?
Aky said:I wouldn't count on it - you know what the VAG group are like for sharing parts.
magnus911 said:R32 MK4 and A3 8L = same chassis...
R32 MK5 and A3 8P = same chassis...
R32 MK5 and 3.2 Audi essentially same car. Same brakes, engine, gearboxes, haldex system, chassis...
I hear what some of you are saying about styling but that's not so important to me nowadays. I love the fact that idiots in Saxos and Golf GTI's look at my car and think they have a chance. And then it's bye bye!
Aky said:Go on the Ess elaborate on this. Same engine BHP and Torque, gearboxes the same shares the same chassis assuming same ARB's shocks, springs etc tyres and alloys how can it be different? Im questioning coz I don't know, I'm not trying to be smart
Ess_Three said:....and I'll be the Audi interior weighs more.
Anyway...a quick check of ETKA reveals:
R32 F damper = 1T0 413 031 GK (55mm dia)
A3 3.2q F damper = 8P 413 031 GK (54.6mm dia)
.
What are they?magnus911 said:That may be the case but overall the A3 is 50 or so KG lighter than the R32!
Also, check the 0-60 stats on both cars, you may be surprised.

Just out of curiosity,how would a chipped S3 compare against a chipped R32?Kef9 said:Not if I chip my S3!!!
I used to think that but there is alot to a bigger normally aspirated engine which i like now.emzino said:S3. Simple formula for me:
Turbo > N/A
where did you get a quote like that? cheapes i could find for my S3 was £1100Mike H said:MPG on the R32 is low 20's, on the S3 is mid to high 20's.
I'm 26 with 8 years no claims and a clean liscense.
To insure an R32.... £875
To insure a S3..... £650
Both with £250xs
Think they are both group 19.
