Hello,

I have a 2017 Audi A4 1.4 TFSI with a Peter Vardy Warranty, that's coming to an end soon. I saw on the Audi website that they have an extended warranty that you renew every 12 months. It's valid up to 100,000 miles, but it doesn't talk about the age of the car, anyone have any idea about this, will my car be eligible, if you happen to have it, what's been your experience with the warranty?

Thanks

Not sure yours would be valid as & don't quote me on this, but I think it has to rollover from your original warranty to be accessible so to speak, but also these warranties by Audi after the initial 3 years isn't as comprehensive & I'm sure they're not actually Audi but just a front man solution & another company supplies it to the dealers, that's what it used to be anyway but it's always changing so give them a call as it may work out for you.

Edit : Apologies I think people are misunderstanding what I meant, should've worded it better lol :D
I mean, my Peter Vardy warranty was coming is coming to an end, so I thought of going for the extended one from Audi themselves

I've sent an enquiry to Audi as well, will see how it goes, thanks a lot

The reason I'm looking for a warranty is for peace of mind, I also digged around on Money Super Market and got a quote of £70pm for a private warranty through a company called "ALA". That is £840 per year! Ouch! But it does include everything including wear and tear, etc.
I'm financially fine paying £70pm, but would take a hit if I have to spend £2k for an unexpected failure, not sure how good value that is honestly. But I suppose just a clutch replacement would cost over that these days.

Ah that makes more sense

To be eligible to benefit from this cover, you must confirm the following statements are correct:

  • You don't live in the Isle of Man or the Channel Isles
  • You are not in the motor trade or deal with the buying, selling or repairing of motor vehicles
  • Your vehicle must not be used for hire or reward, public services (e.g. emergency services), professional instruction, competition or off-road use, motor rally, speed or duration tests or any practice for these events
  • Your vehicle has not done more than 100,000 miles
  • Your vehicle was not manufactured by anyone other than Audi
  • Your vehicle is not a kit car, grey import or powered by fuel cell(s) or LPG
  • Your vehicle has not been modified from the manufacturers' specification (manufacturer fitted optional extras are not classed as being a modification)
  • You must make sure your vehicle is serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's schedule
looks like age doesnt matter - just did a quote - its not cheap!!!

Nope I was speaking specifically about the Audi aftermarket warranty.

Yeah got that, meant that for other people :)
Audi UK still hasn't gotten back to me yet, will see how it goes.

I have a 2016 A4 B9 Avant, I've used Audi Extended Warranty for the last 3 years.

You should just be able to put your reg in a get a quote, I pay around £40 a month for full component cover.

I suppose these things are down to your attitude to risk. Audi have an online form - add in your registration, confirm any excess you'd likely pay, proposed annual mileage and it will quote you.

If it was a diesel for example, then at this age it's definitely worth having all component cover with faults that effect DPF, EGR, Ad Blue, etc. I got all component cover on my 2017 3.0 TDI (272) for 2 years, not from Audi but from a specialist. The only drawback is I can't tinker with the car (as I'm usually spanner handy), but as long as you use genuine Audi parts and get the stamp you're fine. I had a 2012 Allroad and the turbo failed prematurely at 70k miles, so these things do happen.

I wouldn't have thought the clutch would be a particular issue, give your mileage unless you tow? If it was main dealer - you're probably looking at circa £1500, where as an independent could do it for half that amount.

Other things to consider will be timing belt renewal (would usually include water-pump but I think it's on a different part of the engine) which are scheduled service items and I believe Audi say 140k miles for toothed belt, but better to use the approach of every 5 years rather than ruin your engine.

Think I read about brake sensor pressure sensor issue to that effects this car, as well as others, and definitely not one to be ignored as it it cooks the ABS pump.

Keeping annual oil changes every 8-10k miles is half the battle.
