I just got a 2018 A4 and the MMI is rebooting while driving. Anyone have this issue? I’ve tried the reboot on my own with the rocker switches and the center button but it still happens. I’ve had an iPhone plugged in via USB and also paired via Bluetooth. These aren’t my videos but this is exactly what’s happening when driving.

Has anyone figured out how this gets fixed?

Welcome to Audisport.net; hope you like it here. :) If your A4 is a 2018 model, you might want to re-post this thread in the B9 section of the forum. The B5 section is for 1995-2001 models. I've asked the moderator team if they can move it for you.

Start with a diagnostic scan to see if there are any obvious errors. If a diagnostic does not suggest anything then having a firmware update completed would be the next step before a potential hardware fix / replacement.

Hi did you get anywhere with this? Ours has had an intermittent fault since new, told at various points it was a software issue, firm ware issue, iPhone issue… all would be sorted out with an update. After being in to Newcastle Audi today it went off 5 times on the way home (about 3 miles) took it back to them and of course it’s nothing to do with them, never touched anything.

Browse to system settings, system Maintenon, software version and let us know what software you have installed at the moment.

Hi there, I’m not sure what it is you need from the screen so this is it all, thanks in advance.

Software information

Media driver: CLU7_MMX2QC_AU_ER_G22_179PROD-1

Did you allow a good few mins for the system to fully boot? If not then can you try again but this time select tel, nav, radio, media and make sure that they don’t say initialising.

At the moment, software version:UNDEF would suggest your firmware (the operating system) is corrupted.

I did not wait anytime at all, it was cold and wet … sorry I’ll try again today.

Yes allowed it time, and all information on screen is the same.

So where it says UNDEF is should say something like: Software version: MHI2_ER_AU57x_K3663_1. This would be your current firmware version. The above is just an example and is for an A6. Because your system is reporting UNDEF (Undefined) I would suggest its corrupt and needs a reinstallation.

Thanks … I’m glad one of knows what we’re talking about , it’s appreciated. Is this something an independent specialist should/could do. Audi Newcastle have been so poor i’m loathed to take it back to them. I’m assuming one doesn’t update firmware from home.

Audi will not have the "tools" to do this, they will only look to replace the MMI unit. You need someone who knows how to work with MMI/MIB units.
Looks like I’ll be doing some phoning round. Thanks for your help.

Hi, did you figure it out?
