Mk 3 TT potential purchase

Hi,
I'm thinking about buying an early Mk3 TT, 230 Quattro with auto box (around 2015 - no particular car, just browsing at the moment).
I've been reading scary things about cam chains on EA888 engines. Any thoughts? Chains should be good if the oil is kept clean but I read that these chains are prone to premature stretch.
Any other things to look out for?

There is supposed to be a test that can be done with VCDS to measure the timing chain stretch. If you became adept at doing this, you could test any car you are thinking about buying & it might give you some "peace of mind" shoud you decide to go ahead.
