Hi,

I have an A3 2.0L TFSI Quattro 2007 (Manual), and I have noticed there is a hard to describe noise from the front of the car (sort of sounds like a helicopter blade slowing down if that makes any sense :sadlike:). It starts when I stop accelerating at high revs (3k+ RPM) and gets slower as the engine revs go down, but it only happens when in gears 3-6. If I'm going downhill and not using the accelerator, the noise gets louder. As soon as I start accelerating again the noise goes away. I have read so many threads but I can't find the same problem anywhere. There are no vibrations that I can feel and the steering doesn't feel any different. I'm at an absolute loss as to what it could be as I've not found anyone else describing the same noise.

Any help would be much appreciated

I had something that may be similar, turned out to be some sort of valve in the engine, relatively easy for an Audi dealer to fix. I'll try and dig out the repair note later. Was a nightmare for my original non Audi specialist to diagnose, they spent £600 of my money to tell me it looked like a gearbox problem, the gearbox specialist I took it to went out with me and immediately told me (for free very kindly) it wasn't gearbox and finally an Audi main dealer found the fault easily.

Found it. My issue was fixed by a new engine breather valve:
A06F 129 101 R - Valve
A06F 103 483 E - 282511/gasket
Note my car is non quattro and DSG but is the 2.0 TFSi.
