A3 8P TDI mpg

I've always been aware that VAG oil burners aren't as economical as other marques and I've seen some horrific figures bandied about.

Admittedly, I've done very little mileage in my A3 1.9tdi but I'm averaging 43mpg around town. Nowhere near as good as the Shitroen it has replaced but that doesn't bother me too much. I remember struggling to get my Stage 2 RenaultSport past 35mpg on a motorway run and it was constantly sub 20mpg around town!

Anyway, is 43mpg around town a good figure for this engine? What do you guys get?

That's about right I'd say. Seeing similar with a tdi 170 BMN engine.
With town driving the traffic has much more of an effect than the engine type tbh.
