I'd never heard of Gravity exhausts before, but i just took a look at their stuff and it looks pretty good (all T304 stainless, decent tig welds, mandrel bends etc)..What's your thoughts on Gravity exhausts? There's a set of resonator delete downpipes for less than one OEM pipe. I'm worried that the lack of resonator will make it sound raspy, which I don't particularly like. LINK It says for manual cars only, which I don't really understand why it wouldn't be suitable for the DSG. Is it the lack of resonators or something?
Did you have your Scorpion resonated downpipes on with the rest of the exhaust being stock? If so, how did it sound? Cheers.
TBH I started on my exhaust journey because the flexis failed on my OEM downpipes and dropped crap into the baby resonators and they then started to rattle.. which is why i replaced them with resonated 2.5" Scorpion downpipes (which were also cheaper than the OEM 2.25" Audi exhaust). This setup pretty much sounded stock.
I then had the stock cats gutted and re-fitted... this is what gives you rasp, trust me! Any de cat (gutting or test pipes) makes these V6s raspy.
I then got the rest of the resonated Scorpion system.. so now all 2.5" from the cat back, and the marginally increased bore seemed weirdly to tame the rasp down a smidge. Any larger diameter exhaust tho does bring with it, drone. And this to me, is worse than rasp.
At 70-75 in 7th under load/mild accell, its pretty bad.. i wont say unbearable, but remember i still have all resonators in place!! The guys who have catless, non res systems must not ever go on motorways, or drop to 5th gear and rev the t1ts off it to avoid the drone band.
Sorry for the waffle... in summary, do i think non-res downpipes will make your car raspy? No. I think it will drone.
Cheers
