2004 a3 12v permanent live

Is there anyway to stop the 12v cigarette lighter from being permanently live? Would rather it only come on with the ignition.

What are you using/needing it for? If you need a switched live, use the rear wiper feed.

Not after a switched live for any reason. Just concerned about leaving a charger or something in the 12 v and it killing the battery

Change the wire at the back of the lighter socket to an ignition live. Run a wire from the fuse box on the right hand side

As said, disconnect the perm 12v+ and use an ignition live from the fuse board instead. Use one of those piggy back fuse holders if you can't find a spare ignition 12v+ to keep things nice and safe. They're peanuts on eBay.

Something like a charger uses about .5w plugged in and not charging.
a 70 amp car battery has about 900w/h so would take about 75 days to drain the battery unless my calculations are wrong. ?
