First do a visual check on them. Might need pads or discs.
If they're fine I'd suggest bleeding them.

a mechanic replaced a brake hose at the mot the pedal feels good not spongy

I would say one or more of the calipers are sticky.An easy way to check is to carefully feel the disc temp after a run .They should all feel about the same hot but not too much
