Hi chaps,

I think my S3 requires a new or refurbished turbo. My mileage is intergalactic these days (206k) and I’ve never had it done. No blue smoke or anything like that but it’s started making funny noises on boost and I think performance is dropping off at the higher end of the Rev range.

I don’t fancy doing the job myself so was going to entrust it to a Audi/VW specialist I use. I’m pretty sure Audi used to do an exchange service for a new unit but not sure if they still offer it. If not, does anyone have any recommendations on where to get the standard Audi turbo refurbished?

Places like euro car parts etc sell turbos both reconditioned or brand new oem quality on an exchange basis.

I see you're not a million miles away from me.
I recently changed my unit and bought a new Borg Warner from TDI Turbos in Verwood.

I used to work with them in my old role. Craig really knows his stuff and I believe he supplies units to various v dub tuners as well as well known Ford specialists.

I went with a stock unit but upgraded to a 360 Thrust bearing and a drop in billet comp wheel. A mild upgrade but compliments to map on the car well. Excellent response and the car feels stronger in the mid range. Having said that my old unit was pretty goosed with about 1mm of end float!! It was also whistling its tits off so maybe not a completely fair comparison.

Revtech automotive changed the unit out for me. Its a bit of a pig to do but the guys there have a good standard of work

You should be able to find both on facebook/Instagram
