Carwow is coming back with 20% discounts on the Q5. This is substantially more than on other cars. Why? Is it because it’s going to be replaced/refreshed?

I don’t think Q5 is a specific example of more discount than other models, you can get similar if not more off A6, probably just looking to up sales of existing stock which is often when carwow deals appear to be best. Q5 not helped by only offering 2.0 petrol and then diesel. I for one jumped ship to a 3.0 petrol X3, what with SQ also going back to diesel.
"I think my SQ5 is great"
Indeed, there really isnt any need for any more car than the SQ5 these days (to be honest, a 2.0TFSI quattro is probably all you will ever need). Howveer, "want" does tend to overrule "need" for many of us....

The market is tough - dealers are either changing their business model to chase less volume and make more profit per deal (with consequent impact on staffing for sales and service) or they are hanging on to try and hit those higher volumes and getting increasingly price sensitive.
The Q5 has the engines that appeal to the majority but its been a round a while now, the X3 is newer, there is a new Evoque, and lots of other updated models that compete at certain parts of the range (including the Q3!). They will be working to shift it. Its a good car (I think my SQ5 is great) but its not an exciting model now.
@X3man - I have just agreed sale of my SQ5 and going over to BMW too....
Agree 100% Is why we'll hold on to our TT roadster and RS3 for a while yet but in truth our SQ5 does as much as either of those will do 90% of the time and then more. I've driven the Audi range, many times, both on road and track and this SQ5 - as it did back in 2015 at the ASN meet at Stafford Audi - still buzzes me lots! And yes, I've looked at the BMW and Porsche and Landrover et al both petrol and diesel alternatives but the 2016 AUDI SQ5 is for me/us soooo complete in every way - not even 'almost' - but 'every'...
And no, I don't like like 2017/18/19 SQ5 versions or I'd have one.
No, 326 PS @ 4000-4500 rpm and 650 Nm @ 1400-2800 rpm (and 47mpg, even, when being overly 'nice') 2016 SQ5 is the one to have; tis a lotta FUN, especially for a pair of 70+year olds, neither of whom can remember being overtaken recently...
Cannot wait for the snow to see how this SQ5 compares with our RS3 which was just mega brilliant - on the right wheels and tyres of course (for sale soon):
You're aware of our situation, Nev, so you'll be in no doubt when I say if there was anything that suited our circumstances better, with equal FUN, than this 2016 SQ5 then we'd have it already...Jeez John, you need to work for Audi, and sell these beasts
All good points, a few on this forum have gone for Evoques, and others.
Nice, so what is next for you?
Treated myself - M5.... Always been my dream car so getting one whilst they still exist and before I am driving something with the soul of a vacuum cleaner...
Completely wrong https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/audi/q5/107765/facelifted-2020-audi-q5-caught-on-cameraNew/facelifted Q5 out in November. Expect it will be at Frankfurt in September.
I see the central MMI controller has gone so it’s touch screen all the way. One of the reasons I moved to BMW...
Hard to press on the move too as my finger is always moving around in time with the UK potholes!Hopefully government's and safety legislation will outlaw the use of touchscreens whilst the car is on the move, they are no different to the use of mobile phones. For some this sort of technology is far too complicated and technical anyway...
.........i know what you mean about the new touch screens. I had a 19 plate S6 for 3 weeks while my SQ5 was having some warranty work done. The touch screen was a pain & gets covered in finger prints no matter how clean you'r hands are.The only thing that i will be upset about is the new touch screen interior - the amount of times people get in my car and try to press the display etc - other than that I'll keep mine for a few more years just to help smooth out the depreciation!
Its a bit of a shame that they feel the need to update them every two years tho.
